MAIS went to 3 classes 3A largest 20 in 5 regions of 4 St Joe to Region 1 north East Rankin to Region 2 east/northeast 4 largest stayed together in Jackson Park Place Region 4 with Simpson Mississippi Louisiana schools in Region 5 PCS would save money by scheduling 2A schools in the south. Maybe 1 or 2 Jackson area schools on schedule. I think they save more money by playing public schools closer by. I guess they can compete with Purvis, Sumrall among others in 4A with the multiplier. I still question whether or not the multiplier was already used to put them in 3A now. It's been in the handbook for many years.

I believe MAIS Class 4A is now 3 or 4 regions with 4 or 5 schools each. It split the Jackson schools. PCS would still have to travel to Parklane, Copiah, and Simpson i think for Region 3 or 4.

6 schools per regions helps with scheduling in 6 classes. 7 classes have created more open dates and less home gate.

Honestly, I do not know if that region has ever been as wide open as it is right now. Picayune, Pascagoula, PRC, Gautier and Hancock are all capable of making it, or being left out. Even Long Beach is 3-1 right now.

Speaking of Pascagoula, I will go ahead and pencil in Picayune as the no.1 seed in Region 4 6a. But will PRC get the no.2 spot this season and Goula the no.3?

I agree with most of this. I think d'Iberville got a little "too cute" as they say in the first half and missed on several passes, including a few that would have put them deep in Pascagoula territory instead of focusing on their bread and butter. In the 2nd half, they just decided to run it down Pascagoula's throat and that coupled with how bad the Panther offense was - ran the 'Goula defense down. d'Iberville is a good football team, but that is about it. Nothing I saw from their game with Pascagoula says they will beat a region 3 team come playoff time - especially not Oak Grove, Brandon or Petal.

Especially if the MAIS revised their classes. They were always paired with teams like JA, Prep, MRA, and Heritage even though those teams were way bigger than PCS.

Loaded week of games. A little irritated at my cousin for putting her wedding on Saturday evening lol. But such is life. Should be a really fun day. Ole Miss at Florida - UF actually a favorite in this game. It does feel like a rather big letdown opportunity for Ole Miss, doesn’t it? I like UF’s roster quite a bit and think this will be an awesome game. But I’m not picking against Trinidad Chambliss until he or OM gives me a better reason to. Rebels win this one by 4 on a late TD. Missouri at State - State nearly a TD favorite in this one, wow! First ranked vs ranked game at Davis Wade since 2017. In an alternate reality Kamario and Austin Simmons would be duking it out in the Egg Bowl this year, but here we are. Mizzou is a good team that can absolutely win this game. Their balance on offense scares me for State. But I think State playing at home, in front of what should be a highly energetic crowd in a night game, gets the job done. Kamario and the offense keep rolling and State scores late to win 38-28. Texas at Tennessee - I love this matchup, odd that it’s happening in the middle of the day. Feeling a little adventurous here, I think I like the Vols to pull the upset at Neyland. Oklahoma at Georgia - loved this matchup before the season when I thought OU’s offense would be improved. It’s not, I think Georgia wins an ugly low scoring game. A&M at LSU - I’ve got some concerns about LSU’s offense but I don’t think A&M is all that good this year. I have LSU winning at home by double digits. South Carolina at Alabama - Bama has been a weird team to start this year. I like sons of SC’s pieces but have no faith in Sellers to play clean enough to win this. I think Bama wins by two TD’s and we perhaps have a really interesting matchup in Starkville next Saturday. Vandy at Auburn - Vandy may be the luckiest 3-0 team to ever live. First road start for a freshman QB, and it’s at Jordan Hare. Don’t really love this Auburn team but I think they find a way at home. Tulsa at Arkansas - i have no faith in Arkansas and Tulsa is 3-0 with a two touchdown win over Oklahoma State. I have Tulsa winning this. USM at Tulane - the Will Hall Bowl. Hard to have a ton of confidence in USM after last weekend, but Tulane isn’t good either. I’ll take Tulane but could see it being close.

They were mad about the multiplier and leading a fight against it so I wouldn't be surprised if they went back to MAIS

I wasn't impressed with D'Iberville. Typical stuff ... they'll be the two seed and get waxed in the first round by a Region 3 opponent. Walley throws well enough but they don't have a dynamic running back to balance out that offense. Pascagoula's defense fatigued (this will be a common theme given how inept the offense is) and they scored a garbage TD in the closing moments but, otherwise, it was a competitive game for almost three quarters.

I hope this is the ignitor of these young ones like it has been to their coach, uncles , daddys and couisins. These first games haven't been personal. This game will be the kind that they sit and think about later. They are going to hear it. Guaranteed . Crazy things happen in this game always but the way I see it(sorry coach)

If the crowds start getting bigger, maybe they will do that. I agree with you. I liked it much better with that setup as well.

It's getting close to region time so it's time to step up being uncomfortable. New name more honesty This is the south portion My partner is attending to other matters and will add his part in the thread if possible. I watched Gulfport and Petal play the other night. Good game to watch because of the coaches. It will be interesting to see where both go from last Friday. But my takeaway is something that I finally put my finger on about Petal. It’s been a long time since Marcus chose family over titles so it’s not that. It’ those dame uniforms. I can’t stand the red color and stupid red panther. It imparts heat. Like I’ve got a fever or wind chapped face. Your players probably feel a little sick too after putting them on. I know the Panther defense has always played that way/ Like they had a flu fever. I think they should consider changing it. It caught help them get over the hump. I rag on Stone County a good bit. Mainly because they more than anyone have benefitted from the sorry region created by Hathorne and his buddies. More than that though do they even have a rival ? Do they even play on Friday nights ? It’s like trying to find King Solomon’s lost mines trying to get any info whether they won or lost , who did they play etc. Plus in the history of histories I can’t recall them getting more than one playoff win in a season.It rubs me wrong that they can’t rep our region any better either. The region is already bad Stone makes it look worse. Diberville has a chance this season to finally stand up to that abusive spouse. I don’t think they will. They used to throw the ball. They used to be dynamic and have fast players. I will go out on a limb here and say they will be 7-0 going into the Gulfport game only to lose yet again. Petal knocked them out of the playoffs last season 14-3. Three measly points against a team that views defense as optional if the opponent scores ten points. I don’t think your coach is that good and I don’t even know who the guy is. Has he ever had a big marquee win ? That district is growing by leaps and bounds and they should be planning on taking a seat at the big dinner, Are they ? I just realized this is all coast teams. I rolling with it anyway. There’s a lot more season and a lot left to say.

they need to put the students back on the home side (by school) like it was for 50 years. When I go to games now, I sit over there with visitors because the last few times I sat on press box side, the mens room was closed after halftime because the student boys were fighting and breaking things in the mens room. I think more citizens would go the games if they would do that.

When Will Hall was at UWA, I really thought he was a rising star in the coaching ranks. But he left there to go to West Georgia. He had great success in the Gulf South Conference (which historically has always been known as SEC Lite) at both schools with three conference championships. But that did not translate into success at USM, which in the present day, sadly is in a hole that I am not sure they will ever completely climb out of. I think Anderson can have some moderate success but I fear the ceiling is relatively low.

I am curious as to the numbers for the following schools: Mendenhall, Richland, Forest, Amory, Louisville, Ripley, Byhalia, Rosa Fort, Sacred Heart, O' Bannon, Union, Resurrection, Lake, Strayhorn, Clarkdale, Belmont, Collins, Water Valley, Aberdeen, Myrtle, Heidelberg, Taylorsville.

yea Shannon going to score more than 34 pts and hopefully to shut them out on the scoreboard, it a get right game for Shannon and it will be over by end of 1st Q. New Albany and Pontotoc will be a lot of running in that game than a lot of passing and yea New Albany can score quickly and Pontotoc got some weakness where New Albany can expose them at, it will come down to who win in the trenchers.

ha. shannon could score as many as they want with saltillo. better get up big at half and let the jv play in the 2nd half. New Albany has established a pattern on D over the past several years and evidently don't understand or simply refuse to adjust to defending the run. their backers are small and evidently aren't taught how to properly read keys. I think Pontotoc will have 250-300 yds rushing and mix in 4 or 5 passes. New Albany can score quick but the key to them is stopping the inside trap.

Pontotoc and New Albany won't be no blow out. what about Shannon and Saltillo
