In the South u got McComb and Poplarville who i think will battle it out at South state and then u got Pass Christian and Columbia that most likely make a 3rd round appearance! After that i dont see other teams doing anything! In the North u got Louisville, Kozy, Shannon and Senatobia who i think will all play in the 3rd round! But its also some sneaky teams in the North that could upset somebody like Houston, Greenwood, maybe Rosa Fort so like i said earlier its going to get interesting in the North but i like Louisville and Kozy for North State once again when its all said and done
-
The only other scenario I could see would be keeping Philadelphia in the north and moving Kemper to the south Region 5: Lake Scott central Puckett pelahatchie Region 6: Enterprise Clarke Bay Springs Heidelberg Newton Kemper County Region 7: Wesson enterprise Lincoln Loyd star Amite Wilkinson Bogue Chitto Region 8: Mize collins north Forrest Perry central east Marion
-
ok and look like it just only 3 teams good in the South and in the North about 3 or 4 or maybe 5
-
He might put Wesson in region 6 but if so then it will be Mize, Puckett, and Pelahatchie and maybe Lake similar to when they were 3A. I think if one is pulled to Region 8 it will be Bpgue Chitto or Enterprise Lincoln.
-
That was the ideal but it has backfired in some regions.
-
3A South: Region 5: Quitman, SE Lauderdale, Clarkdale, Union, Raleigh, Pisgah Region 6: McLaurin, St Andrew's, Magee, Mendenhall, Crystal Springs, Hazlehurst Region 7: Port Gipson, Jefferson County, Franklin County, JDC, Tylertown Region 8 OLA, St Patrick, PCS, Seminary, West Marion
-
As long as excitement has been increased then I guess 7 classes is worth it.
-
Yep any sport after football and basketball.
-
Pass Christian in the same boat as Senatobia as far as the games they have scheduled! Neither team has been battle tested! But its not as many tough teams down south that could knock em off early! They’ll see McComb 3rd round and thats gone be a good game
-
Bogue Chitto to Region 8 like once before but with 5A-7A going 5/6/7 team regions it will probably be 5/4/6/5 in the south 2A.

Now that the numbers have been released there appears to be much less movement than anticipated across some of the schools. However, to get an idea how much the overall school enrollment has dropped, look back at the number of some of these places when 7 classes were implemented. Most of the schools I've spot checked lost students, even in the larger areas. It's to be expected in some of the smaller, more rural communities that are hanging on by a thread and sometimes in the smaller classifications, a big or small class can move the needle. Here are some very interesting numbers, at least to me: During the 2022 relclassifcation, St. Patrick reported 334 and for 2026 it's 275. That's a steep drop off for a private school in a relatively high population area. Sacred Heart had 135 and now 107, French Camp 112 to 84, Resurrection 113 to 90. We will never know MAIS figures but I wonder if it's them, more homeschooling, or if the decline in the number of students who were born is that significant.
-
That’s a possibility, but man do you know how horrible that baseball region would be? Philadelphia, Bay Springs, Newton, and Heidelberg
-
To see it better Google misshsaa and click on a specific class.
-
That's what you meant by some funny stuff a few weeks back. More like 4/5/6 team regions.

Switch Lake and Philadelphia

This would be my best guess for 2A South Region 5: Philadelphia Scott central Puckett pelahatchie Region 6: Enterprise Clarke Heidelberg bay springs Newton Lake Region 7: Wesson enterprise Lincoln Loyd star Amite Wilkinson Bogue Chitto Region 8: Mize collins north Forrest Perry central east Marion

Anybody want to take a shot at who they think ends up in each region? I have no clue who goes where in the north, someday else can do better than me there. In the south, I think a couple things make selecting new regions tricky. The biggest issue is in region 7, in the southwest part of the state. There are 6 teams there and there’s literally nowhere else you can put them that makes sense. So those 6 teams certainly will have to all be paired together. That means another district is gonna to only have teams, with all 4 guaranteed of making the playoffs. The other issue is Philadelphia. They will have to be in the south due to the north having so many teams. But no matter where you put them, it’s gonna cause at least one long drive for a region game.
-
Meridian has had better success vs Petal than Brandon or Oak Grove the past 10 years usually because they are more athletic. And I think that will be the case this year. If they can not beat themselves with dumb penalties or lapses in focus on plays they can definitely win this game. We would've beat Oak Grove if we had just made our extra points
-
4a and 3A guesses?
-
Well moving Collins wouldn’t change that. The issue is with region 7. There is nowhere else you can put those teams. Those 6 teams will have to all be in one region. You can’t any of them anywhere else. Theres gonna have to be one region with 6 and another with 4.
-
Like i said though, one two hour bus ride isnt gonna be end of the world. Lol
-
I just think they should have the same number of teams in each region instead of having 6 in one region and 4 in another.
-
This is how I would district 2A south Region 5: Philadelphia Scott central Puckett pelahatchie Region 6: Enterprise Clarke Heidelberg bay springs Newton Lake Region 7: Wesson enterprise Lincoln Loyd star Amite Wilkinson Bogue Chitto Region 8: Mize collins north Forrest Perry central east Marion
-
That’s because yall have to. Collins isn’t in that predicament. Their furtherest drive they would have in the district I had them in would be 51 minutes to Perry central. That’s closer than Puckett or pelahatchie for them. I think the regions I drew out make the most sense, but the mhsaa doesn’t always use common sense
