  1. Past hour
  2. I believe hes talking overall talent
  3. Vott this has nothing to do with Petal at Hattiesburg. If you want to address his comment, he’s mentioning WR corps. You know that’s like pissing in the wind at Picayune. If we ever get a guy to have double digit receptions in a game, that record would take decades to break. We would all be witnesses to history being made if that ever happened.
  4. Chances are good one of us will see them
  5. I’ll concern myself with picayune at playoff time.
  6. WJ got more talent than Picayune?
  7. You won’t be. May not even have the best wr corp in 6A south.
  8. Gotta have one non region game. No way you discontinue the Little Brown Jug game between Hattiesburg/Laurel. Thats like losing $80,000 if its wasnt played. Its the biggest gate game of the season for the home team.
  9. We all use to play the last 4-5 regular season games fighting for a region championship or seeding. It would be WC, Picayune, Laurel, WJ and Hattiesburg those were the days lol
  10. Well it got watered down by default because you had more district games and fewer non-district games with fewer classifications. Make it mean something again. I think that’s what people want. Also these extremely bad football teams that make the playoffs doesn't help matters either. Making the playoffs needs to be a reward for doing well in district play.
  11. Today
  12. It wasn’t very long ago we were playing eight team regions and things were much better. Just think back to when WC was 4A and 5A. When you made the playoffs you were in for a dogfight because playoffs lasted longer. Now two rounds of playoff football that’s a joke.
  13. Dang Bert that’s the most I ever seen you write. It could be fixed. If like I said every game is a region game. What these people that came up with the system that is in place now. have done is to make the regular season irrelevant. Now the question becomes is why? Did someone in that room point out what it would do? Is it done for money? Is it done unfairly I might add to nudge certain school districts into the playoffs where they couldn’t do it much before? This is a move.Bubba Hathorne would have proposed. Was it done this way because someone suggested let’s try to save the districts a little gas money? A thought only the most simplest of minds would make. My thought there is a disconnect in the way they view football for school districts then what the kids the parents and people that follow it like we do. They approach it as just another extra curricular activity and aren’t really concerned with the best team winning. Whatever their thought process is it’s too secretive and clandestine for my taste.. Having to hide things is a red flag that they know what they are doing is not beneficial to the public.
  14. The only way we can openly save the 7 classes and 10 game schedules is to schedule one week out of the year that 4A-1A schedule 1 MAIS opponent. Enough of this 10 schools every Friday with an open date. 8 or 9 game MHSAA schedules already killing the bank accounts of schools.Otherwise we go back to 5 or 6 classes. Then if you have 150 kids in high school and or 55% boys to 45% girls you either play football or play a consolidated county football team especially in 1A NE MS.
  15. First off.. how many games did keys play last season??? Second: our wr corp will be vastly good this season and as a whole maybe even better than last season. Third: I'm not taking anything away from a spring game. Fouth: there's about 2/3 players you dont know about like young from last season that will make a name for themselves this season. I'm not expecting hhs to go out and embarrass petal at all but from a talent standpoint I think we will be the most talented team in 6a south by far.
  16. HHS didnt beat Laurel or Biloxi by 3tds last season with what we had last season. Did beat Meridian pretty bad last season, but I got a feeling Meridian may be very much improved this season.
  17. Not looking at the Petsl and Oak grove games yall and them tend to beat the snot out of each other regardless how good or bad one may be any given year. But if yall do not beat Laurel, Biloxi and Meridian by 3 touchdowns each then you some concern about the state of the offense would be warranted.
  18. Yes and no. That HHS defense with the exception of 2 DBs was consisting of mainly sophomores and 1 freshman. The DLine should and I say should be the strongest part of the team this season. Did get a 3star DB from Brandon who is a better baseball player than a football player. His father was named the HHS head baseball coach back in May so that replaces one of the DBs we lost last season. Offensively HHS returns the QB the starting RB and our no.3 and no.4 WRS from last season are now No.1 and No.2 this season with Plump already having multiple D1 offers including LSU. And their is no doubt the Oline will have to grow up very quickly. Playing the likes of Petal Laurel Oak Grove Biloxi and Meridian in non region will only help them get better. Plus them practicing against the Dline everyday will help as well.
  19. No team in this state can loose a wr the caliber of Keyes and not feel it at least a bit. And then you lost young who would have been a great number 1 wr for every team that did not have Keyes on it. I refuse to believe your wr corps is as good as the past 2 years. You, yourself said you lost the entire o line. In that spring game Heidelberg made the o line look small (by normal Hattiesburg standards) slow, and a bit silly. Not one team in the current 5A or 6A south has been able to win the South 3 consecutive years out of the last couple decades. There have been a handful winning 2 out of 3 years or 3 out of 4, but none did it consecutively (and the ones that hit close all won at least 1 state title). It won’t start with Hattiesburg this year.
  20. We didn't lose as much as you think. Outside of the oline we're set at every position.
  21. Thevwinner of west jones and Hattiesburg will win that region. This is the case every year and will likely remain so for a while. Doesn’t matter if both them are 4 win or 8 win teams at the time of that game.
  22. will either team be able to maybe win 7 games or more and make a run at a region title?
  23. Sorry, but breaking in an entire new o line will take more than 1 quarter. Probably more than a couple games. Hattiesburg, as much as yall don’t want to accept, are not to the point of reloading immediately after loosing a large group of talented 3 year starters like you just had graduate. And the coaches know it or they would not have been openly recruiting so much this offseason trying to quickly piece together a team they think might be capable of winning.
  24. I’m sorry but yall do not beat Petal enough for you to talk like this lol. Even when you’re prob supposed to.
  25. 7 classes have given us 5 team regions with 1-9 records making the playoffs. With all the open dates this year its going to be some 1-8 records in the playoffs. Right now in 2A you have 4 team regions all 4 in the playoffs and yes 0-10 goes as a 4 seed. In 1A north you have appx 10 nonfootball schools out of roughly 24 or so. That means you have 6 team regions with up to 3 non football teams in the region. Somewhere 1 seeds get buys now. 1A set up has to change or simply go back to 4 regions maybe 6 regions if it can be worked out fairly. With 6 there will be some buys. At least those schools get back to 10 game seasons and not 8 game seasons. 6 classes were better. 5 classes is probably where we need to be even if it leaves 3 teams per region at home. And now we have coaches that won't schedule certain teams or certain coaches for what ever reason. Like Forest dropping Raleigh or Bay Springs dropping Raleigh because the excuse was in Spring of 25 that Raleigh players hurt us then you schedule a team 3 hours away. Coaches have got to get tougher in some areas. Consolidation is or will happen over time. Nothing you can do but grow your county or your town.
