It’s the best healthy dish In all of South MS. So this pub is from me to him. The last ranking for the season will be next week. I tossing around doing something for the playoffs but more to be used as a guide rather than focusing on football teams. After going to SoSo last Friday I had to drop West Jones out of the rankings. They are a shell of the machine they were earlier in the season. Watching Laurel struggle to make the playoffs is a joy. Their players deserves credit but that fan base is the worst to be around in the pine belt Whatever happened to those two loud mouths on here a few weeks ago? The farther Breland gets in the rearview mirror the worse they get. Several games worth seeing this week. Anyway here’s poll #6 for 2022 1. Picayune- There is a point where every great team knows they are the best. The tide is playing like they are only competing against their selves. It’s hard to stay that on point but a nice time of year to be peaking. Hosts Gautier. #1 and #2 Primo top five matchup. Region title on the line. The Tide will feel challenged and that can’t be a good thing for the Gators. 2. Gautier- Anyone that can win as many as they have has to have been doing something right. I have been critical of Gautier in every ranking so far so let me take this opportunity to say that I am impressed. They just happen to have the bad luck of being in the same region as Picayune so they are always in the way. @ Picayune. Another Primo matchup for the Gators . They will have to put that just get the last possession style to the test this week. Who knows, maybe the QB has lost to the Tide enough. I wish this game was on Friday so I could go watch. 3. Vicksburg- they have gotten better as the season has went on and are playoff ready. They seemed to just come out of nowhere as far as press They have kind of made themselves my adopted team in the North this year. Anything can happen now. Host the #4 from Region 1 in couple of weeks. 4. West Point - Got into district play and started shredding the competition. They have let everyone in the North know the road to the big show will pass through them again. Seems like It’s been that way forever. @ Columbus. This game is a real stinker of a regional finale. In the South the last game usually has playoff implications. This one won’t. 5. Hattiesburg - Vance continues to advance the Tigers to the region crown and a 1 seed. The Tigers unveiled a passing game against top 10 West Jones who was less than full strength Hattiesburg will be looking for revenge this Saturday Host Laurel. The second Primo Top Ten matchup for this week In the grand scheme of things this game means very little to Hattiesburg while it means a tremendous amount to Laurel. There is no love loss between these teams and anything can happen . Laurel QB was injured against Wayne County last Friday. 6. Wayne County- got a huge monkey off their back Friday coming from fourteen points down late in the third quarter. Back in the playoffs after uncharacteristically not participating for a few years. @ West Jones- Coach Hankins would like nothing better than to kick the Stangs while they are down. Unclear on if the QB will be back for West but that run defense is still intact. This will be a problem for the Wayne County offense. 7. East Cental - A team everyone is kind of forgetting about. They almost forgot their self last Friday letting a much maligned George County play within a score of them . They best find some defense before the playoffs . @ Vancleave. I look for this game to be close. It’s a rivalry and Vancleave can score but not very good on defense. Not concerning the game but a bigger school could do a lot worse than going after Fant as HC. I think he has turned into a good one. 8. Neshoba Central- they didn’t have a letdown after losing the battle for first place. A lot of their players have playoff experience from last season. I think they have a excellent shot at winning in the first rouand after that could spoil the party if they get the right breaks. Host the number 3 from region one in first round next week. 9. Lafayette- they quietly run their region after losing the first game to West Point . How good is that region? IDK but Vicksburg and Neshoba are about to put it to the test. @ Lake Comorant. Another stinker to cap the regional schedule. Are there no rivalries within the class up there anymore ? 10. Laurel- They have turned into we have a sorry defense so try to get the ball last team.Not a good outlook when your QB is out hurt. When you only have a good offensive coach as Head Coach you better have a good DC. They don’t. @ Hattiesburg- These two don’t like each other. With so much on the line for Laurel it will probably be extra chippy. There will probably be fisticuffs. It will be a good game to go to.
