s1nglewing
I was just watching this and was reminded that Bill Raphael was a participant at D -Day. He and I went to see the movie together when it just came out he but couldn't stay. It was too much. He was on an LST after the first wave and only 16 years old. He faked his age bc his older brother had polio and he took on his "persona" in order to enlist. He told me after we left the theater how the water was red and that's what brought back things he hadn't remembered. After the war he played at Millsaps as QB and then coached at Jackson St. Joe from 1950 til 1989. He was a fantastic mentor to several great athletes and leaders in Mississippi.
