Maybe this career is at an end

I doubt anyone wants to be party to this: “The evidence is clear that this is not an isolated instance (of recruiting) and that Coach [Rush] Probst (sic) and members of the Valdosta Touchdown Club have on other occasions contacted other student-athletes or their families and provided gifts of money, payment of utilities and housing incentives in an attempt to persuade those student-athletes to transfer to Valdosta High School.”

No offense taken. I was just pointing out a bit of nonsense. Hillcrest doesn't recruit. Prep doesn't. Hartfield doesn't. JA just started, but that 2020 season was gifted by virtue of JPS' short-sightedness, so not sure that qualifies. Madison St Joe does not recruit.

MRA has been rumored to do so, but there has never been any actual evidentiary proof of such activity.

Probst was investigated, proof of ill-deeds provided, he was then put on leave, and will almost certainly be fired, because of the evidence provided.

There have been few, to my knowledge, bona fide cases of recruiting by private schools in the history of MAIS. If you have PROOF of things like what Probst and the Valdosta TD Club were doing being done by MAIS schools, then I'd be glad to listen. Until you can do so, it's just hearsay and rumor.  You're just parroting what you've heard others say unless you can provide proof that can be corroborated that such activities take place.

Until MHSAA allowed interleague competition all that was ever said was that the academies couldn't compete with "real" football - the bump-n-giggle league and all that, but once competition began and the public schools discovered how good the upper echelon of the MAIS really is, then the recruiting cry-babies started the unfair-competition-because-the-private-schools-recruit refrain that hasn't stopped yet.

Now if you'd like to start a thread about illegal activities that the MAIS schools participate in, please do so... it will be a very short-lived thread; otherwise, this thread is about Rush Probst and the proven illegal activities that have been taking place at Valdosta under his direction. I met him at a coaching clinic at Ole Miss once - can't say I thought too much of him. I'm used to a certain amount of testosterone and confidence amongst coaches that can get old pretty quick (like at the AFCA Clinics), but not the condescending arrogance that came out of that one... toward the Ole Miss coaching staff, no less.
