When will the guys with warrants and jumped bail quit resisting? Probably when police stop unnecessarily killing people. Police were never meant to be judge, jury, and executioner. I think a small but significant step would be to stop putting nonviolent offenders in prison. That is especially true for drug offenses like possession or public intoxication. There are so many other ways to "punish" people for breaking laws than throwing them into a large singular environment full of violent and lifetime criminals. s1nglewing
Portugal has decriminalized ALL drugs and their violent crime rate has plummeted. Just a thought.

In most of the other cases, had the perp not ran, he'd still be above ground. This Floyd case is a bit different though. He said he couldn't breath while standing and called for momma before they pulled him back out of the cruiser, so I feel that he would have died from the drugs in minutes had they just left him laying by himself. There is no telling what if anything this chauvin guy will be charged with but much property will be destroyed either way. I am with u on the letting up on the lesser offenses. "If they hadn't run..." You see, the problem with that statement right there is 1)victim blaming and 2) perpetuating the problem. They're literally running because they're scared for their lives. Do you realize just how frequently a story like this pops up? These stories aren't being made up. These are young men and women (13 year old black girl was killed by police in Ohio shortly after the Floyd verdict was announced, I don't know all the details on that one) who are being killed, in many cases, in what should be routine traffic stops. Daunte Wright was killed after being stopped over an air freshener hanging from his mirror. He did have outstanding warrants from traffic tickets or something else but nothing he should have died over. 18 hours ago, s1nglewing said: Portugal has decriminalized ALL drugs and their violent crime rate has plummeted. Punish damage caused by intoxication. No one should fear the police breaking in their door and arresting them because they smoked a little weed. No one should fear being taken from their family and thrown in a (for profit) prison system with violent offenders (rapists, murderers, etc) only to face, literally, no job possibilities or any real economic future just because of archaic and racist drug laws. Do you REALLY know why weed was made illegal in this country to begin with?
pancho
Dude, if you fight with an officer or resist and do not drop a weapon when ordered to then I'm not sure it'll ever work out well. I run a business and employ several felons who regularly go see the probation officer. These guys haven't stopped their drug use/or selling per say but they do pay some cash on a regular basis and this keeps them out on the street. I want to hear a representative speak on what individuals plan to do on a daily basis to improve their situation. I mean either get a job and be regular or get an education or something. Al Sharpton has yet to say that some people need to change their ways and be a better citizen. I am personally embarrassed that we have created a society where people think they can just live the street life and always just be lucky and dodge the law.
