wpgreenwave51 Posted November 21, 2021 Share Posted November 21, 2021 I guess I'll post this one. Haven't been on here much this season. West Point is back to being WP with the stingy defense. The closest have they've had this season was the last regular season game vs Columbus 49-26. A lot of starters were held out of that game on defense to recover from some minor injuries to get ready for the playoffs. In the 2 playoff games the offense is averaging 41 ppg and the defense is giving up 6.5 ppg. The starting defense has not given up a td. They are really big across the D-line and linebackers will hit you. This game will be close. I don't see WP scoring 40 points either. Midrange Posted November 21, 2021 Share Posted November 21, 2021 (edited) Didn't say the best in the state, I said extremely solid.. But I don't think that's where the game will be won. Its gonna come down to WP secondary. Not sure if they've gotten better in the past few years, but I know they've been suspect vs passing teams, especially ones that can be balanced.. This season WP has played and defeated predominantly run oriented offenses.. And the teams that attempted to be pass oriented, were just not that good at it.. Sure our secondary hasn't always been the best but they are better than they were the past 2 years. After all 3 of the 4 starters in the secondary have been out there all 3 years. Are they subject to get beat on some plays? Yes of course but I wouldn't be banking on just your passing game beating WP this year. Ridgeland came in with that same thought process and it didn't work for them. Williams didn't get into the end zone until late in the 4th. I'm just making it known that in the past your secondary has been suspect, especially if NC Oline can give QBs time in pocket. No one can cover 5-8 seconds without a break down in coverage. Not even the guys that get paid for it.. We have to do a good job picking up blitzers, and making good reads and not get trigger happy and rushed into bad decisions.. Everything has to be a setup for later. To me, what has gone unnoticed is the recieving group as a whole. We have some kids that can just beat you 1 on 1...Up to this point I don't think we've taken advantage as we should've of other teams weaknesses. Thats why some of the scores have been closer than the game actually was. But when all said and done we'll be there Friday.. Good luck... I read these same messages last year vs Louisville and also in the state championship. How yall were gonna destroy those teams. Everyone predicted WP to win those games convincingly.. And you also see the scoring difference from last year and this year. Teams averaged over 20 points against us last year. That was probably the worse defense we've had since 2013. Last year we gave up 280 points in the regular season alone. This year we've given up 112 points in 8 regular season games. Over 60 of those points came from the B-Team. Greenwave67 Posted November 23, 2021 Share Posted November 23, 2021 (edited) We hadnt played Louisville since 2019.Our secondary was all sophomore just like your qb was in nesohoba.They defended Luke atmyer from starkville pretty good last year .In destroyed him in 2019 All we are saying is this.Against common opponents you barely won.West point drug them .If you take friday game a ruffing the kicker on the field goal attempt the ref didnt call it.You got 7 point off a fumble that went out endzone you take that away u at home this week.U line up eveyplay in illegal formation not enough people on the line scrimmage.Sir you been broke all the way down to the very littlest thing.The ref will call it in west point .
