Enterprise vs. Union

Derryon Gray returned a punt for a TD with 2:43 left in the game and the Enterprise defense made a final stand as EHS won a thrilling come-from-behind District 5-3A match over the Union Yellowjackets. Enterprise trailed 21-10 early in the fourth quarter before scoring 15 unanswered points to claim the victory. EHS improves to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in District play and will host Clarkdale on Friday in another huge Region game. EHS kicked off to Union. The Bulldog 'D'  forced a three-and-out and a Yellowjacket punt.

Union shanked the punt and EHS took over at UHS 28. The Bulldogs drove down to the Union 8 yard line but the Yellowjacket defense stiffened and denied the Bulldogs a first down and Trace Roy booted a 25 yard field goal giving Enterprise a 3-0 lead with six minutes left in the first period. 

Enterprise tried an onside kick and recovered it on the UHS 49. The Bulldogs drove down the field deep into Yellowjacket territory. Bulldog QB Derryon Gray completed a pass to Tight End Blake Wilkins in the Union endzone but Wilkins fumbled the reception and Union recovered on their five yard line. 

Union then drove 5 yards in ten plays scoring on a Two yard run by Ky'Yon Harris. Eli Rigdon kicked the PAT giving UHS a 7-3 lead with seven minutes left in the first half.

Enterprise took the kick and scored in three plays. At midfield Gray rolled out to pass and then pulled the ball down and ran 50 yards for a Bulldog TD. Roy booted the Extra point and EHS regained the lead 10-7 with six minutes left in the First half. Union took the kick and drove 65 yard to score. Harris scored on another two yard run am Rigdon added the PAT to give Union a 14-10 lead with three minutes left in first half. 

EHS returned the KO to their own 40 and drove to the Union 13 yard line but the 'Jacket defense stiffened again and with 27 seconds left in the half Roy came on to try a seconf field goal. Roy's 30 yard attempt was no good and Enterprise when to the locker room down 14-10. It was the first time Enterprise trailed at halftime all season.

Union kicked off to Enterprise to start the second half. Enterprise picked up one first down before being forced to punt. EHS then forced UHS to punt and took over at their 38 yard line. 

Enterprise drove to the Union 37 before turning over possession on downs. The Yellowjackets then drove 63 yards scoring on a 25 yard TD pass from Union QB Kenyon Clay to Harris. Rigdon's kick made it 21-10 Union with 11 minutes left in the game.  Enterprise took the Kickoff and embarked on a five play 78 yard drive. Gray completed a 44 yard pass to Wilkins to the Union 22 and two plays later Bulldog RB Parks Burt scored on a 17 yard TD run. Roy's kick made it a 21-17 Union game with eight minutes remaining in the contest. 

The Bulldog defense clamped down holding Union to a three-and-out on Union's next possession. Union then forced a Bulldog punt only to have EHS hold UHS to another three-and-out and force a Yellowjacket punt. Gray returned the punt 70 yards for a TD that reclaimed the lead for Enterprise. Zee Sims ran in the two point conversion to give Enterprise a 25-21 lead with only 2:14 left in the game. 

EHS kicked off to Union and the Bulldogs stopped the Union kick returner at the UHS 16 yard line.  On first down the Bulldogs stopped Clay for no gain; on second down Clay's pass was almost intercepted by Gray, who dropped the ball; on third down clay rolled out to pass then tried to run but was tacked for a minimal gain. On fourth down Clay's pass to Kaleb Casey was incomplete but the Bulldogs were flagged for pass interference giving Union an automatic first down.  Union threw two incomplete passes before Enterprise narrowly avoided disaster on Union's third down.  Clay hit Casey, who was uncovered and streaking toward the Enterprise goal line with no one between him and the endzone, but Casy dropped the pass. Union called a timeout faced with a 4th and ten and less than a minute left. When play resumed Clay rolled out to pass but was heavily pressured by Bulldog defenders and threw an incompletion and Enterprise took over on downs. 

Enterprise had 279 total yards. The Bulldogs rushed for 235 yards and passed for 44. Gray led EHS in rushing with 77 yards on nine carries and one TD. Roy had 53 yards on 11 carries, Parks Burt had 38 yards on ten carries and one TD, Zee Sims had 34 yards on seven carries and Gavyn Dear had 33 yards on 11 carries. Gray was 2-4 passing for 44 yards and returned a punt for a TD. Blake Wilkins had a 44 yard reception. Ridge Jackson with eight tackles. Roy had seven tackles, and also kicked two PATS and a field goal.
