Surprising Starts

Here are a few teams that have surprised me with how their seasons have started out:

Mantachie 4-0 for the first time since 1995

Clinton, but not in a good kind of surprise way

Winona averaging 52 ppg

Shaw McEvans solid contender right out of the gate

Tylertown appears to be back

Hartfield might well be the 2nd best team in the MAIS

I agree on all but the biggest buzz starter up here in the hill country so far this year has been baldwyn. they appear to have gotten back to old school football like they last played 8-10 years ago.  The 10-7 OT win over East Webster was impressive.  Baldwyn held the La Tech commit from EW to 63 yards rushing.

Hartfield has not played a good schedule to date. Of course they'll blow out PCS and all of the other tiny private schools they play. Once they go against the heavy hitters such as MRA and JA they will look a little less impressive.

I've seen Hartfield and MRA and Prep play this season. Hartfield is pretty even with them as far as the eye test goes, but we'll see when they go head-to-head.

I don't doubt that they are better than Prep. Prep is on track to have the worst team in school history. MRA, JA, Greenville, and Heritage however are all better in the MAIS. Blowing out bad teams doesn't mean that you are good.

Ford is a far better linebacker than RB
