  1. Maybe that’s the case at this particular school, and that sucks, it really does. They should 100% be called out because it’s not the case at the majority of the schools, especially on the coast. The one thing that all of these AD’s are worried about is not taking care of the female sports enough. Maybe that culture has shifted in the last few years, for whatever the reason is and they’re actively trying to make it better for them. Again, it honestly does suck that your daughters had to go through it the way they did.
  2. I get it, I was just using those as examples of where I looked. I very well may not be looking at the right place to find it. I do know the board doesn’t give any approval on uniform orders. All they do is approve payment when it’s time to pay the invoices.
  3. I’ve already googled and looked at Biloxi, Jackson County, and OS. Didn’t see one minutes agenda that shows approval for uniforms being ordered or invoices for uniforms being paid.
  4. Man, I mean it when I say this, that truly is a travesty. What area of the state was this in?
  5. I'm not fighting you in particular, I'm stating that there is misinformation about this all over this thread. You said you have had 2 athletes play high school sports. When were they in school? You say you can't go back further than 10 years and I get that, but we are talking about right now, this day and age. Maybe there was a one off at whatever school you're talking about, I'm not denying that because I don't know. If that was the case, then I 100% believe that it was a rare, but unfortunate occurrence for you and your daughters and it shouldn't have happened. Right now, with Title IX the way it is, there is no way that the female sports aren't getting the same uniform options that the boys do. Again, this is what this thread is all about and I know that is just inaccurate information on the coast. If there is a school where this happens, then that's unfortunate and it needs to be called out for it. I know there are coaches that will not go through the district and use booster club funds because they don't want to go through all of the red tape that the district or business office makes them go through. Is that the districts fault? I personally know the majority of AD's on the coast, going back 5-6 years. Not one of them would not purchase uniforms for a female team. Again, it's on the coach to come to them with those wants/needs. If the coach doesn't do that or if they decide to go ahead and use the boosters because it's "easier", that's not the districts fault. I'm done on this topic. I know how it works and everything that goes on behind the scenes.
  6. Not sure what you think they cover at these school board meetings, but they don't go over in detail what was ordered or paid. That's all done in advance between the athletic departments and the business offices. The only thing that happens at the board meeting is the approval to make the payments. Again, you're saying uniform fundraisers are being doing and I'm not arguing that. I 100% agree that they fundraise to buy uniforms. They're doing it for other uniforms, not their home and away uniforms.
  7. I’m not saying budgets aren’t getting cut in half at some schools. Especially some of the smaller schools. I’m saying that the uniform that has to be worn for the game, male or female, is being bought from the school budget. It varies on how often they do it, some do it every 2 years while others might do it every 4 years. The only time they’re fundraising and buying through the boosters is when it’s an alternate jersey or it’s not within that cycle. If it’s a required home or away jersey, they’re buying them for the kids.
  8. I can promise you, I know a lot more about these athletic departments, including OS. I never said they all do the same thing. I even said that some do it every 2 years versus every 3-4 years. Those uniforms were purchased through the district office. Let’s say you are right though, and the booster paid for them. You’re using one example from two years ago at an athletic office that was completely depleted because of the previous administration, a fact that you conveniently left out. If a uniform is lost by the student, why would the school be the one to pay for it?? If a kid loses a textbook, a computer, or a library book the family pays for it.
  9. I do agree with you on the budget per sport. That’s across the board (excluding football). That does not include uniforms in that number though. It’s a completely separate budget from the individual sports budget. The AD has an actual uniform budget.
  10. You “knowing for a fact” still doesn’t show where this supposedly happens. There is no school out there on the coast that isn’t buying uniforms for every sanctioned sport. Again, little Johnny or little Jenny may be wearing a uniform that is 3 years old and that hurts yours/theirs feelings, but they get replaced at least every 3-4 years, with the majority of them being replaced within 2 years. Show some proof where a booster club had to purchase uniforms because the school refused to buy uniforms in need. The only time a booster club buys them is if it’s not the sports turn in the rotation, or if they want to do a color that isn’t a school color.
  11. Again, you’re just throwing stuff out there to see what sticks. Now it’s not just uniforms, but it’s practice gear too. There are not a whole lot of athletic departments buying any male or female teams practice shirts, shorts, etc. Athletic departments will buy uniforms, practice uniforms (if they’re being turned in ever year), and equipment. The booster club may purchase everything else for the players, but it is paid for by fundraising from the players or getting sponsors. Same thing that the girls team have to do.
  12. Instead of saying it’s untrue, why don’t you give a situation of example where this happened. Again, there is not a sanctioned sport in the MHSAA where uniforms aren’t provided. They’re all on 3-4 year rotations.
  13. I can promise you that every sport sanctioned in Mississippi, male or female, the school will purchase their uniforms. It might not be every year like some parents or coaches want, but they do buy them.
  14. Not politics at all. They 100% wanted Brabham to take over. Just something that happened and will come out eventually.
  15. Nothing along those lines at all. Not my place to spread the reason, just know that they didn’t have a choice.
