  1. It feels like a lot of teams play a half of varsity football and then JV gets a handful of plays in a separate format. I have no idea if that's how they went about it, of course. But it would be weird to me that in a scrimmage with only a half of football being played, that varsity wouldn't play most of the game, if not all. Unless, of course if there was no allotted time for JV outside of that half. Also, if they pulled starters, I don't see how Wayne would score 3 tds in 12 minutes unless it was a bunch of chunk plays. Kinda wild if that's how it went down, though.
  2. D'iberville and Gautier played in some wild rain last year, I think.
  3. For sure, Stone has the pieces to make a little run. In 5A I think getting to the 2nd round has to be the biggest thing. Another first round exit and I wonder if the hotseat gets turned up a lot.
  4. Gotta think PRC should be able to push into the playoffs again, but I know Long Beach has some decent talent this year (comparatively) so maybe they surprise some folks. I also think West Harrison is due for a post season berth.
  5. I know the have a DL getting some good looks, might be a DE if I remember right. Not sure who the other one is. They're got some big country size in the trenches so I wouldn't be surprised if that's where the other one is.
  6. If I'm honest it looks like for 6A that Goula is a little high on this list. I can believe they'll be a top 10 team in 6A, but I don't think they belong in that top half. I also think George County should be off the list entirely.

I get it's pro-player, but man is it murder on some schools. And I know talent should get found, if you can ball you can ball. But it's way likelier you'll be found at the school with the winning record and a few other recruitable players instead of staying at a team with a losing record where you're the only one (or two) players being recruited. If this stuff goes unchecked, some schools could become deserts for football talent with other schools getting most of the available talent.

Yeah I heard that too, but I've always heard about folks poaching from Gautier in their surrounding areas. If I remember right, they helped develop a stud wr (can't remember his name) that moved a couple years ago. It's interesting cause I know they haven't played the toughest schedules but they've had a pretty impressive run of success. Big schools do get some extra attention though, so prolly makes sense from a kid's perspective. I know St. Martin lost a few this past offseason, some big time defensive players.
  9. Saw St. Martin is doing a spring game that's intrasquad, makes sense with the new leadership. Do they have a full staff yet? Speaking of which a buddy told me Biloxi was searching for an offensive line coach as well. Seems wild considering they have a pretty big time recruit down there, I wonder what those spring practices look like and who they'll go up against in a game without having a full staff assembled.
  10. That's true, I've seen that Picayune stadium packed out like crazy. I agree with the PA for sure. Being on the losing end of a game where the PA is snarky and gets under your skin is a really underrated factor that I'm surprised more teams don't try to have. Hearing "X Team scores" compared to "X Team easily cruises into the endzone through the Y Team defense" makes a big difference in terms of mind games with the opposing team. Wayne's stadium is pretty stinking nice so I definitely feel like that is a great place when they're full.
  11. Kinda combining both questions, because I'm interested in both (and they almost go hand-in-hand). What stadium has some of the best atmosphere on a given Friday night? Same with fans. What communities really show out for the kids each week, regardless of their records?
  12. In your opinion, do you think some of the on-field shortcomings are attributed more to some assistant coaching shortcomings? The way they managed to come alive the second half of the season could bode well for their momentum going forward!
  13. I'd say the OC for Gautier is pretty good. Louisville seems to always have great coordinators. I'd be interested in a topic like this but for position coaches. A lot of coaches who do a lot with a little.
  14. Judging on most of the rhetoric online, seems like Poplarville and Gautier. Biggest might be Gautier, just because no one is even entertaining a conversation about them haha.
  15. Didn't see it but saw one of their defensive players got himself 5 sacks in the game. Sounds like poor protection had a hand in it
  16. Wayne played a hell of a game. Some will criticize them going for 2 on that last score but they were running it down the D's throat. Logically it made sense
  17. Wow that's a great comprehensive list! I find it super interesting that GC is third on that list. I feel like size and athletes coupled with the community might make it a #1 spot. I am definitely ignorant to a lot of the differences in each place, though.
  18. If you had to make a top 5 list, ranking the best open HC positions right now, who would you have in that list? If the rumors about Goula are true, I'd have to imagine that's a pretty top destination. Moss Point would've been pretty good if they had dropped down to 3A, but staying in 4A I think really hurts their desirability. Somewhat ignorant of all the vacancies, but interested in opinions.
  19. Mostly just home field and the first playoff game. I was surprised to see OG give up 20 to Biloxi in any capacity so OS should realistically be able to put up 28-35. And Biloxi has a great defense most of the time, but OS's is no slouch. I think OG has a great chance at winning too, just think OS can adjust and win. But I'm leaning towards 55% OS, 45 % OG.
  20. I think OS should win, but I find it hard to ever trust them too much in the playoffs
  21. What facebook page? I feel like I haven't found many active ones on there, but I'm probably not looking enough.
  22. I know I might sound crazy for this, but if WC's offense decides to keep showing up and their athletes play hard on the defensive side of the ball, they have a legit shot at the second round. And I think you're spot on about Vancleave. Stone may have it tougher than they'd expect, but region 4 has a small chance of sweeping
  23. I feel like Pascagoula is really the only team who might lose at home, just due to how inconsistent they can look at times.
  24. WCs offense seems to have come alive in that past couple of weeks. If they manage to keep this going, they have a realistic shot at making it to Round 2.
  25. Since we're talking about South 5A and have all these different possibilities because literally every single team somehow still has a way to make it into playoffs - what scenario would y'all be fans us in terms of matchups? We know Gautier will be going against Natchez. Rematch from last year with two high powered offenses. But what matchups would you guys be interested in? I think Wayne v Brookhaven would be pretty funny. Vancleave vs Florence and Stone v South Jones would both be pretty entertaining matchups.
