Watered down districts desperate for 7 classes

If that’s true, then that explains it. It also means that nothing‘s gonna change. Their next move will be 3 team regions with eight classifications. -
You might want to tone it down a little bit coach. When the right people complain they gonna come for you and they will shut you down again. I don’t know if you was around for that, but it did stop it. I think Vance had already been involved in some shenanigans that involved the good oh boy network stepping in and reeling him back in. So he kept a lid on it at HHS. Lacey is about to get a lesson on the hierarchy. With him not coaching in this state before he probably just thinks that’s the way business is done.

Ive heard after they pay out fees for the officials the MHSAA gets 30% of the gate.

That loser wrecks everything he touches and he’s never been held accountable for the destruction he has left in his wake. I have heard the increased revenue angle brought up before. It’s my belief that any uptick in revenue is more than lost by decreased attendance in the regular season. Do they get a larger share of the gate for playoff games than regular season? -

7 classes was brought uo at annual meeting as I recall on the coast. I think it originated out of a district 5 annual meeting which Bubba was a part of at one time. -

In 4A-1A can now go 4 regions top 8 make the playoffs. 2 stay at home probably will likely be the same 2. -

IN 5A/6A you will always have dates available for a jug and a gator hunting trip for those 2 schools. -

They did it to get more money off of playoff games and to some degree appease coaches wanting desperately to coach in the playoffs. It didn't work for 1A because 4 regions were enough. 4A-2A now has many open dates. 40 schools in a class should mean 4 regions. 48 schools in a class and you get 8 regions. Some schools are at 1 or 2 open dates and appx 10 schools some weeks are open. They won't play a school open 20 miles down the road. What ever they come up with in the future it should be a minimum of 6 schools per region all classes. -

Multiplier I think would go away with a merger. I think its scheduling and other intangibles that take place ar facilities when a team plays on the road. Maybe some of yalk are little too aggressive with cheering when they play MHSAA schools. -
You’re very good at deflecting. No way anyone as close to a program as you are to HHS, Mike, has no idea about what’s going on.
-
If you had not posted anything over the past few weeks about HHS getting transfers I would not have known anything about it. LOL You are a Jones Co guy but my source when it comes to players coming in to HHS. Thanks for informing me.

Pack was supposed to be at Hattiesburg. You don’t remember Steve McNair Jr? There was a kid from Columbia 2-3 years ago. They got a number from Bassfield a few years ago before they merged with prentis. Oh, right, as I said in prior post. Everyone else keeps a lid on recruiting and takes a couple kids a year at most. They dont recruit half a starting lineup and make lots of noise about it like Hattiesburg is doing.
-
Our coach (Casey Orr) likes to schedule at least one long trip, because he doesn’t want the kids first long trip to be a playoff game.
-
Had no clue Pack was recruited. The only big name I heard to be recruited to Oak Grove was Taiwan Easterling from Magee. And to me was a better baseball player than football player. I did know about the Petal/Poplarville connection along with Alford from East Marion
-
All of them were expected to be big contributors for their school this season. Let’s be upfront here. Since oak grove became something other than a doormat in 2002 and they recruited Gary Pack, it’s been no secret that oak grove was getting 3-4 kids a year pretty much every year. They built that program on transfers. They didn’t seem to lay off till just a few years ago as their program finally became mostly self sustainable. But they are and have been targeting a small number a year. Petal had that whole pipeline from poplarville thing a few years back. And for the last 2 years i know of they have gotten a small handful of kids a year. One would have been big contributor at south jones. So yes, others do it and Hattiesburg certainly was not the first. BUT! No one related to those programs openly says a word. It’s an unspoken truth. Hattiesburg, on the other has kids and even some fans (and reportedly an assistant coach but I havnt seen that evidence yet, I was just told about it) who openly brag about it. They making aI generated poster looking announcements for it like the kid just signed a big NIL deal to go to LSU. So not only are you openly going after almost double the number of kids a year than the other schools around you, but you rub it in their faces. IF the stuff posted in those text groups were screenshot and went public on that Facebook highschool group I bet it would cause pandemonium for the MHSAA. They know it happens. They know of the existence of said text groups. But they do not want it to go that widespread. Not before they modify some rules or have the state legislature pass some to force their hand.

What makes you think these guys who are coming in will be major contributors? The player from Brandon I heard about only because he is a stud in baseball but the others I have never heard of them.
-
Wherever he was from. Doesn’t matter. Would I be happy if west got 3-4 transfers in offseason to help. Sure. There were “rumors” of up to 6 that nothing ever happened. 1 other that did. But what you guys are doing is on an entirely different scale. At this point the MHSAA needs to apply that 1.5 multiplier to you guys and send you to 7A.

He was from Wisconsin. Wound up playing at WR. If hes still on the roster then was was granted another year of eligibility. He was a senior last season. And BTW they may be bragging. I certainly am not. I only know these things because they get posted. I am only interested in what goes on in between the white lines from 7-10pm on Friday Nights. Not interested in how many stars a player may have his GPA or anything outside of football.

We had one kid transfer in 2010 that started in defense who was a star at former school. Was just a good lb at WJ. In 2020 a wr transferred from mt olive his 10th grade year. He was really good, 3star wr by senior season that did not play senior year due to acl tear in summer before senior year. He eventually went to Usm did not ever play I don’t think. We had one transfer before last season that there was a lot of shenanigans that led to him playing 3 games at Wayne academy, he will be playing this year. And then we had the kid from oak grove this past spring. So at most on a season roster we have 2 that were not originally at WJ. Sure there were rumors of another rb and a wr before the end of last season. There was rumors of 2 different qb’s (one lives in jones county but he attends private school). And a d lineman from bay springs was rumored. There were unconfirmed rumors of another kid from oak grove. There are always rumors of “oh my gosh this 9th grade phenomenon that’s already 4 star is transferring”. But the fact remains that no more than 1 a year and several years apart from each other, has actually happened at WJ. That’s not the case with Hattiesburg. Hattiesburg isn’t growing like petal or oak grove, nor even sumrall. But you guys are openly bragging about pulling kids in from other schools like you have no fear that anyone will stop it. How many was it last year? Three? Four? At least that qb that moved from like Minnesota to Georgia then to Hattiesburg in less than a year is still on the roster. And now you guys are adding all these other kids for this season? It’s far too obvious what’s going on. If school choice had of passed this last spring I can assure you Laurel would have lost 8 to 10 kids to WJ in a hurry. WJ could have taken a few of them anyway as they live in one of the few areas where kids can choose between the schools. Some of them were recruited to Laurel from WJ to begin with by former line coach at Laurel that left. But WJ had over 130 come out for varsity football in the spring. And coaches won’t throw any off the team to make room for others even if some would never see the field. So a bunch of kids wanting to move were told to stay put. Heck there are about as many from NEJ that want out as well and some could go to South jones easily and some to west. There are a bunch of kids that do not want to be at Laurel or nej right now (this ties in to the things I know about that’s been going on at Laurel for a few years now and is partly responsible for their recent poor seasons and could be tip of the iceberg).
-
You know you would be happy if players came in to make your team better. Lets just says 2 defensive players with talent of former WJ player Byron Young moved in from say Greene Co. Would you not be happy to have them?

Screenshot. Editing out name.

Hattiesburg coaches this past spring
-
Wr from fcahs. Rb/db from fcahs, d lineman from Perry county, safety from Brandon (by hiring his dad as baseball coach). That’s what I recall off my head right now.
-
Maybe you cans can finally recruit your way to one of these.
-
2 kids were said to be possibly transferring vott. 2. And it was said before the season even ended last year. And Trey were not recruited, there were issues at prior school and a parent wanted to get them away from it. And for the record, they did not transfer (one will never play again). There was 1 other kid that can play wr from oak grove who did transfer during christmas break. You guys got like 5 this offseason alone. 2 from one school. And brag about recruiting them.
