CFB Week 10 Thread

Recommended Posts

Ole Miss -7 at Arkansas - have said for years that this is one of my favorite games every year because never know what shenanigans are going to go down. I had this circled as a potential weird game for OM early on and still believe that. I think it being an early kickoff benefits OM. I have this going down to the wire but I trust Kiffin more than Pittman. OM 27, Arkansas 24. And I expect it end in some weird way like it has so many times before.

UMass at State -18 - can State’s defense play well enough to beat a 2-6 UMass? If not then fire the whole defensive staff on the spot. I think the spread is about right, I have State winning 42-24.

Vandy at Auburn -7 - I am shocked by this line. I have Vandy winning outright and think they are clearly the better team.

Florida  vs Georgia -16.5 - I think UGA wins but I have UF covering here… I actually think UF is a pretty solid team that has an upset in them somewhere this season…

Texas A&M -2.5 at South Carolina - night game in Columbia, I like SC here. Feels like a huge trap game for A&M.

Kentucky at Tennessee -16.5 - I think UT rolls. Kentucky’s collapse is one of the more underrated surprises of the season for me. They’re likely missing a bowl game this year for the first time in 8 years. And if not for the OM win would be 2-6 right now.

Ohio State -3.5 at Penn State. Huge game in the B1G, but I feel like Penn State always loses in this kind of spot. I’m going with the Buckeyes to win and cover.

Here's what I don't understand.  How does beating UMASS make a dang difference?  If you beat them the defensive coaching staff is safe, but if you lose they're toast.  There needs to be wholesale changes on that side of the ball regardless of the UMASS outcome.

I agree and think you maybe should’ve canned Hutzler after this last debacle. I don’t even see how you let him finish the year if UMass is torching you too. UCF and West Virginia just fired their DC midseason, so there’s definitely precedent.

There is not a compelling case for this defensive staff returning for 2025. State has to have a major shakeup on that side of the ball.

I’ve seen so many mentions in other places that the OM/Arky game favors Arky since 70% chance of rain all day and should be a running type of game. I’ll take OM’s loaded box on defense to stop the run against Arky. Any game where I don’t have to worry about our secondary is a good game to me. I hope OM keeps up with using the TE like last week. I see a 27-24 type game too or 24-21. I’m not picking who wins though. Don’t wanna jinx it.

Give me State to break the losing streak and win by 20+.

I took Auburn last week and sticking with them this week at home. Auburn 28 Vandy 17

Florida has been starting to look like a better team than early on but I still think they drop this one. My question is which Georgia team shows up? Is it the first half of the Texas game/2nd half Bama or the one that seems like it’s been sleepwalking through most of the season? Close game early but give me Georgia 35 Florida 17

A&M can’t surprise USC with Reed at QB and USC has a defensive front that could make things hard on him to where they bring Weigman back in for a passing game. Being at night makes me give the slight edge to USC. I’m going with USC 30-27.

Kentucky…Goodness gracious I hate Kentucky. Tennessee by 50.

Penn St is the most fraudulent playoff top five team there could possibly be going against an Ohio St team coming off a struggle win last week. Give me Ohio St routing Penn St 38-17.

I don’t know if this is infuriating or not, but why has the AD been dead silent?  Is he afraid to make a public statement in regards to the football team, or are his priorities elsewhere?

What purpose would the AD publicly speaking on this matter accomplish? It is evident that we are poor on defense. And 83 noted that back in the spring. The roster was gutted after last year especially on that side of the LOS.
It is easy to blame the coaching staff as they are ultimately responsible. But until and hopefully this will start to get corrected with this recruiting/transfer cycle, we get SEC caliber players, it will not matter who the Defensive coaches are.

We knew coming into the season that to win games we would have to outscore teams. Obviously we have failed to just that, to this point.

The effort of the team has been a plus and hopefully we can win Saturday and maybe steal a win over the next three games.

There were some interviews released last night that he did with Paul Jones and Steve Robertson and they went over like a fart in church. I actually thought he did a very poor job of selling hope to the fan base and most people that have read those Q&A’s were not at all a fan of what he had to say. State fans are tired of being told what they can’t do.

Since 2nd half of last week, Dart is using the short 5/10 yarders to the TE instead of forcing the deep pass and today it’s opened up 2 bombs to Watkins. Plus doing this without Harris. This is also the Watkins I’ve been waiting to see. Still a whole half left to play. Need to step on their throats instead of be conservative. That’s defensively as well. Keep putting pressure on Green especially since he’s playing on a bad leg and not as mobile.

I expect OM to beat Georgia, then lose to Florida.

Seriously though, that is what was expected of the offense all season.  Two loses at this point is disappointing, but they can salvage the season by winning out and making the playoffs.

The playoff projections on ESPN have gone from 5 SEC teams in to just three by most analyst and a few have 4 in.
