NoWammies
So Pillow goes 0-4 in their district, finishes 3-7 and makes the playoffs? Starkville Academy beats both Pillow and Heritage yet those two get in instead? They prob need to come up with a better system. If district finishing no longer matters, why even have districts? Why yes, yes they need to. What in your opinion would be the best route for the MAIS?

As far as 5A goes, if you just took the four best teams from each district it would be the same except Starkville would replace Pillow which makes a lot more sense since they finished 2-2 and 3rd in the district. Then you could do power points from those 12. Having a team that didn’t win a single district game and was on a 7 game losing streak until tonight doesn’t make much sense. I didn’t dig deep into the other classes yet to see if there was the same discrepancy.

TheAnswer
A lot of this is incorrect on the points and seeding.

Rebel Bert
What makes since is there should be even number of regions in each class. Where there are 4 regions at least 1 non region games against the other 3 regions. That’s an elimination process. All region games should be played at the end of the schedule not scattered in the schedule. MAIS process makes no since to have 3 regions like 5A. 4 regions of 4 each makes more since. NoWammies
Still stunned by this. I haven’t asked him yet but my friend who is AD at Magnolia Heights shared this vid last night that I SS’ed here. If the down is correct, Starkville threw the ball up 21-20 with 1:02 and in this pic the ball was intercepted. Magnolia Heights then drove down the field and kicked game winning FG with 7 secs left. If it really was 1st down, why throw it?
TheAnswer
Due to tiebreaker rules, Starkville had to win by 8 or more to win the district. If they won district, they would be the #3 seed. If they won by less than 8, 11 seed. If they lost, 12 seed.

TheAnswer
Doubt they win the appeal. A couple faked a divorce to get their kid eligible at River Oaks and got caught.
pancho
wow. that has happened up here in the north in the public schools several times but they had no issues and all went well

There would be no other explanation for them to forefit their entire season.
s1nglewing
10-0, eh... 0-10 Must've been a difference maker. They were 4-8 last season and had no game that was even close this year.
