CFB Week 9 Thread

Arkansas -6.5 at State - it’s State’s best chance for an SEC win to this point. Been playing well lately and a win here would affirm the recent run of positive performances. However, not to be a fly in the ointment, but I can’t pick this team to win an SEC game with THAT defense until I see it happen. Also will be without Craver who has been State’s best big play threat so far. I think it’s close but I just think Arkansas is better this year. State covers but Hogs win 38-34.

Oklahoma at Ole Miss -20 - man talk about a game that looked awesome in the preseason but has had all of the air let out of the balloon with both teams stumbling early. That said, I believe OM to still be a good team…. I don’t believe that’s the case for OU. I have Ole Miss having a big get right performance and winning comfortably. Oklahoma’s offense is bad bad and this is a good OM defense. Rebs win 31-7.

LSU at A&M -2.5 - big big game at Kyle Field, the winner has an excellent shot to make the playoff and perhaps Atlanta. Total coin flip and I’ve changed my mind on this a little but I’m gonna go with LSU. Something about Weigman’s performance against a bad State defense spooked me on A&M. LSU by a field goal.

Texas -18.5 at Vandy - Top 25 matchup, lol who saw that coming. Could lightning strike twice in Nashville???? Probably not…. But I’ll say Vandy covers and Texas wins by 10.

Mizzou at Bama -13.5 - both teams have disappointed.but I’ll give Bama the home win, line seems spot on.

Auburn at Kentucky -2.5 - this game is gonna be disgusting. I have Kentucky winning something like 13-10. Don’t let your kids watch this lol.

I keep hearing Tre Harris is out for Ole Miss this weekend, I hope not.

IF Harris is out, Oklahoma definitely covers and likely wins.

You clearly have not seen the Oklahoma offense this year. The only chance they have to win this is Dart throwing 3-4 interceptions.

I can’t rationalize losing to LSU. We were clearly the better team but no matter what we still haven’t gotten that close out mentality no matter who we get from the portal or who is coaching on the sideline. Just can’t get over that hump and take the next step from mid tier to contender. 2 4th down stops from being undefeated but couldn’t step up and get them. Multiple opportunities to take 2 score lead late against LSU. Failed to do so.

Don’t disagree with any of that but the argument can at least be made it was a Top 10-15 team on the road.

Ole Miss is so close to being a really great team but somehow always find a way. Vs KY it was abandoning what got them there offensively - that's 100% on the OC. Poor play calling.

The last two games have been performance-related... that's on the players and their preparation.

They have the potential to be a great team but whether it is coaching or mental, I don't know. They're just not achieving to the athletic potential they're capable of thus far. I imagine it's far more frustrating for the coaching staff than it is for anyone else,  but I hope the ship gets righted.

I am kind of like you 83, we are playing hard but our defense just gives up way too many yards. We have created some turnovers and if we are going to win Saturday that will have to be a big part of it. So though I think we will score I am not sure it will be enough. Arkansas 40, State 38

Ole Miss pummels OK 27-6. Will not even be close at all.

I know LSU has been playing better but there is something about them that I am not sure about. I like A&M at home in a close game 24-20.

Texas is just not that good and Vandy continues their destruction of play off potential teams.

Vandy 28, Texas 24. And it will not be an upset.

Missouri has been winning close games and Bama is just not that good this season. But the Tide will be high enough to drown the Tigers.

AL 30, Mizzou 21.

Kentucky rebounds and defeats Auburn in an ugly game. KY 16, Auburn 14.

Vandy beating Texas would be wild because then you have to start seriously talking about if Vandy can make it to Atlanta.

As tough as Vandy's remaining schedule is, it isn't that terrible.  They get their two toughest remaining opponents at home (Texas & Tennessee).  They also have to go on the road to face LSU, and then they've got Auburn on the road and South Carolina at home.  It's tough, but if Vandy is a true contender then this is the type of schedule they should embrace.

Even though the analytics have Vandy as an underdog in all their remaining contests, I think they can beat Auburn and South Carolina without any major issues.  They've already proven they are no pushover either.

It depends which Vandy you get. Let’s not forget this is still a team that lost to Georgia St and struggled at home last week to Ball St.

Vandy has picked those games as the ones to struggle in and saving their inner Vandy for the big games…LOL. I  have no idea what will happen but they are solid, they are frustrating to play and have a QB that is a playmaker. They are confident as well. They will be America’s team Saturday…

All I can say about Vandy, I wouldn't bet on them winning or losing any game.

Vandy beating Texas tomorrow wouldn't surprise me, Vandy losing out wouldn't surprise me either.

The Navy Notre Dame game will hopefully be a fun watch, it definitely has playoff hopes on the line for both teams.
