And I guess the protected status of Kirby Smart allows him to bludgeon another team’s QB right in front of the referee with no penalty or consequence. And then he conveniently claims to have forgotten it.
The play happened right in front of him as well. He knew Van Buren had just gone out of bounds.
Pathetic but normal for the SEC Officiating crews as well.

That was ridiculous. Needs to be at a minimum fined this week.

If you like fun games with no ties to any teams, yesterday was a pretty dang good day of football.

On our state:

Southern Miss- the Will Hall experiment won't last beyond this season I'm pretty sure. I hate that for Will. USM was already in a tough situation before NIL, it's MUCH worse now since that fanbase support is VERY bad.

Ole Miss- very talented team that really should be undefeated right now. Woulda/Coulda/Shoulda... the scoreboard is what counts. Ole Miss had every chance to put the game away yesterday and didn't. I kept saying during the game: "Instead of putting it away, Ole Miss is going to "FAFO", and they found out. Losing at LSU wouldn't be a big deal for playoff hopes, but losing at home to Kentucky with a second loss probably leaves you out. IF Ole Miss finds a way to run the table with a win over Georgia, they're almost definitely in the playoffs... I really don't like the odds of Ole Miss running the table after watching the LSU and Kentucky games. It could happen, but it's a very dumb bet that would payout very well if it happened.

MSU- You all know I'm not a "moral victory" person, but Starkville is showing signs of hope for Lebby. MSU hasn't looked "good" the past two weeks, but they've certainly looked better last week and better again this week.

After watching UGA this year, they can give up some points plus it’s in Oxford.  Beating UGA at home is not a long shot.  I’d say more of a toss up.  However, OM blowing their playoff chances with a loss to Florida or Arkansas on the road is possible too.

Ole Miss has been a "potential" contender every season Kiffin has been there. Penalties and discontinuity scuttles them every season. They are potentially one of the best in the country, but find a way to blow it.

Yep, and it's frustrating.

On the other hand, I remember SO MANY seasons when the only "potential" for Ole Miss was winning 4 or 5 games.

They’ve put themselves in a tight spot, but they’re definitely not out of it.  At the beginning of the season I thought if they lose more than one regular season game it’s a bust for them.   However the way it’s played out so far and with the schedules left, it’s going to take three losses to be out of the playoffs.

Ole Miss is the type of team that’ll beat Georgia but then lose the Egg Bowl. Fans are always given some hope only for it to get ripped away. It’s like going into Tuscaloosa and beating Bama but losing to Memphis in that same season. For some strange reason I just have a gut feeling that’s how it’s going to end. I keep reading from State fans that Lebby needs just one signature win this year. What better way to end this season and get momentum for recruiting than to win that game and ruin any hope Ole Miss had?

Has not really been mentioned but USM loses again to fall to 1-5. Irony of it all is the fact ULM gashed them with true freshman RB Ahmad Hardy from Lawrence County. USM did not even offer/recruit him apparently. Hits keep coming for Hall it seems. Will be interesting to see if they make a move in-season, or wait until his contract expires at the end of the season.

As much as I would love that…. Nah, I don’t see it this year. OM feels like a horrible matchup for State. Kentucky and LSU had enough on defense to give OM trouble…. State just doesn’t have it on defense.

Kiffin better shore up the OL or Dart will continue to be rushed and Harris must be on the field.

Harris, Bentley, and 2-3 key defensive guys who’ve been out need to be on the field. Oh, and we need to find a magic potion to get that offensive line to pay a little better.

The fact that Harris has to be on the field is disturbing. Yes he’s our best WR and one of the best in the country but on paper we still have tons of weapons like Juice, Prieskorn, Watkins and Lee. It’s crazy that when he’s out our offense struggles so much. I still can’t understand the drop off Prieskorn has had this year. Juice has been kind of a disappointment so far. You’d think he’d be the one that stepped up with Harris’ absence but he hasn’t.

There should be a WR or TE on every play that gets open based on how talented the lineup is.  Most teams abound but be able to cover all of them, however they’re not playing to that potential.  Maybe they are and Dart isn’t finding the right guy or maybe he doesn’t have the time.

I’m curious when the collective pays players do they get one season up front and renegotiate after the season.  It would be interesting to see how many players are paid and don’t perform up to what the ate getting.  Do they leave after the season if they’re going to get less the next year?  Do they get multiple year “agreements”.  Does anyone have any details on that?
