Meridian (back in the day)

Louisville

Mendenhall

Magee

Collins

Starkville

Stringer

Weir

Rosedale/West Bolivar

Forest

Some of these are smaller schools but have had arguably more success than some you mentioned if you go back further.

If this is based on the modern era (since intergration) around 1970 then South Panola would be the most accomplished. However, from the time football was invented until 1970 it was clearly Meridian. Unfortunately, a lot of the people that would know this are not around any more.

I had a hard time picking between the two. I just remember that historic run bassfield had way back in the day

What was the run Bassfield had?   Was it as historic as 89 straight wins and 5 straight championships in the largest classification in the state?

That’s a good list, but I’d add West Point for sure in the top 5 and probably Meridian.  Not sure who I’d leave off though. Lol

Bassfield (JDC) has a history of winning and is still winning state title unlike south panola. SP had to recruit to even get half of those wins

I realized that a long time ago lmao. Hattiesburg on the list with no state titles? Over the likes of Meridian, Louisville, West Boliver…

I think he may be looking at the long history of the program in terms of how long they have been playing football.

After I google searched about the Hattiesburg/ Laurel matchup, no other teams in the state come close to seeing as much history as those two programs
