I can only find 9-12 Some times you have to Google Mize Junior high, Mize Middle School, or a specific named junior high such as Collins, Velma Jackson and others have named those schools after someone. Velma Jackson is Shirley D Simmons Middle School. Some there are 2 articles from US News and most are listing 9-12 numbers. Some list PreK thru 8, 5-8, 7-8 numbers. It's tricky and time consuming. Wrong, Taylorsville is the smallest 2A if you start with JZ George. Then Lake or Scott Central stays south.
Rebel Bert
Georgia will be dropping back to 6 classes due to travel. Alabama counts the 20 school days after Labor Day. That will be an rolling average of 20 days ending Sept 30. 20 days in Mississippi and sent in on the 16th Sept will begin on Monday August 19th. Mississippi must be a rolling average beginning 1st day of school.

I was told in the summer by a friend in the district they are 99% sure moving up to 7A. Freshmen class is very huge and apparently the next 2-3 behind them are large. With many, many more schools plus much larger schools in terms of enrollment, this should be an example of why 6 classes is more than enough for a state our size, if not 5. Fewer classes with larger regions would help with scheduling and travel for all sports, not just football.

The only reason I think this was down was because it gives the almighty MHSAA more $$ from gate receipts. Ordinarily I wouldn't mind that if the MHSAA was using that money for let's say "policy enforcement" instead of salaries in their office. Not a fan of them as you can tell
ccbulldog
Mississippi needs to drop down to 5 classes and a committee needs to place teams by class and district by combination of size, location and traditional ability to compete. If you do this it will solve both the travel issues and competition issues. And should eliminate any school feeling the need to play independent.
