Is it true that the schools actually voted the  to expand classifications two years ago or was it just done at the executive level ?

Actually the proposal came from District 5 meetings. Those schools in Meridian area. That does include schools in Wayne County.  Not sure who proposed it.

A couple of things:

1 Where do you put the 7th school in a 7A Region.

2 Where do you put 9 1A schools in north Ms. Do we get a all basketball region or 3 regions of 3/3 split. 3 basketball and 3 football. 3 one seeds get a bye or one region all 4 seeds get a bye in playoffs.

3. Will St Andrew's and Pisgah go to Region 3 or will Choctaw County  and Noxubee County come to Region 5. Can Noxubee County and Union go to Region 4 all this in 3A.

4 Definitely changes coming in certain regions if not all regions in most classes. And yes I can see it go different ways for some schools.

Based on current  schools vs posted Classifications on page 12:

7A: North 12

       South 13 includes West Harrison

6A: North 12

       South 12

5A: North 9

South 15 three schools in Jackson/I-20 area going North

4A: North 26

South 14 i believe current Region 4 schools in east central Mississippi moving South to become Region 5.

3A: North 21 all schools north of I-20 includes: Noxubee County, Union, Pisgah,  and St Andrew's

        South 19

2A: 22 North of I-20  including Kemper County, Scott Central, Pelahatchie, Lake, Philadelphia, Velma Jackson,  which will likely split between Regions 5, 6, and 7. New Site is the only Non Football.

       South 18

1A: North 38 North of I-20 including Non Football schools West Union, Ingomar, MSMS, Wheeler, Pine Grove, Houlka, Hickory Flat, Jumpertown, Blue Mountain, Tremont, MSD, MSB.

       South 11 including Piney Woods

I'm not sure who proposed it but I know who takes a lot of credit for it. He has also said openly that if the schools don't like it they will have to vote it out it his typical  defensive tone. He knows people don't like it and revels in it.

You're using I-20 as a dividing line, but the division between north and south is fluid, not divided on some geographic supposition.

Actual dividing line can be 10 to 20 miles north of I-20. That's why 5A-7A has a region in and north of Jackson.  Its also why 2A-4A has a region along and north from Forest to Meridian  in north Ms. This was created when 6 classes came along. Nothing can be done by 1A South going into the Delta over to Columbus but having just 4 football regions. And yes there will be 0-10 to 3-7 records going into playoffs.

They can't vote it out without a new proposal coming from a district meeting. Certain coaches will fight it if it knocks their 0-10 team out of the playoffs.

We probably all agree that even 5 classes are adequate for a state our size, particularly in light of the consolidations that are coming down the line.

I still maintain district consolidations are more needed than individual schools in most cases but also know school consolidations will happen as populations drop and facilities decline which will mean even fewer schools spread out over more classes.

Does the board meet in Clinton or Virtual online at home schooling or district office and give verbal approval.

Legislative council and executive committee meets in Clinton 3 times a year. Once in October then again in February and April. The executive committee meets a few more times than that and can also be called to meet on eligibility or other issues that might arise.
