Rivalry Week Thread

Can SC leapfrog Bama and OM now? That’s the question. SC has three Top 25 wins and can argue that one of their losses came with an injured QB. I get that SC lost to both Ole Miss and Bama but it’s a debate at least.

That said…. All of these teams are out without more chaos. Ohio State is still very likely to be in. This knocked them out of the B1G title game though, likely to be Oregon vs Penn State now.

During the Bama game, they mentioned that Bama’s chances to make the playoff actually dropped a little after the SCarolina win over Clemson.

What does Miami’s loss do to the ACC and say Bama?    We may not really know until after the ACC championship.

Prob gonna give them a 3 team bid if Clemson can somehow beat SMU in ACCCG. I doubt Miami falls out of the playoffs and not sure if a SMU loss in the ACCCG will put them out.

It’s crazy how the outside ppl keep saying the SEC needs to schedule a 9 game conference schedule but nothing gets said of the ACC’s 8 game conference schedule and how the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams never faced each other during the regular season this year.

I'm with others, Miami is most likely in.

SMU is definitely in.

SMU just needs to beat Clemson to keep the ACC from getting 3 bids.

I like Bama's chances of getting in if SMU beats Clemson next week.

Texas is a lock already. So is Tennessee.

Another monkey wrench would be A&M winning tonight and beating Georgia next week. That would give A&M the auto bid and almost definitely push UGA out.

Funny how the Ohio State/Michgan game switches the heat on coaches.  Before the Michigan win, it appeared Michgan fans and more importantly alumni with deep pockets thought they had hired the wrong guy.  They supposedly had admitted it was just a hire to keep the team together.  An OM alumni and collective member I know told me a week ago that there were rumblings of contact with Kiffin.  I haven’t read that anywhere or heard it from anyone else though.

the ohio state losing is easily the biggest upset of the day though as we know anything can happen in a rivalry game.

What a scrambled mess.

USCe, Bama or Ole Miss?

If one of those teams make it, who will it be?

Even though lost to Bama & OM, I think it will be SC. Won six in a row to end the season plus beat their rival, a top fifteen team on the road to end the season.

A team that has quietly gone 11-1 is ND. Most people here and in the South have a lot of disdain for Notre Dame but I have always liked them. They did have the one hiccup against NIL early in the season but otherwise have taken care of business. Schedule was a bit weak but that was a product of some of their opponents having unusually bad seasons.

I have a theory that the committee doesn’t want to have to pick one 3 loss SEC team over the other two…. So that favors a second ACC team getting in, in my opinion.

I was about to say as of now, I don’t see any of the three.  That could change next weekend, but if I had to pick one it would be Bama.

Interestingly, Boise State has a path to the 3 seed if Clemson beats SMU next week.

An example of how messed up the seeding is. Take the top 12 and seed them where they're ranked. ZERO auto bids.

Boise State absolutely deserves a spot in a 12 team playoff, but seed them where they're ranked by the committee. 8th? 9th? 10th? I won't argue any of those.

The Big12 auto bid this season is also a joke of a system.

All else equal

If Bama had lost to Ole Miss & South Carolina but then had won six games in a row to close out the season including a win at a top 12 Auburn team, then they would not deserve a bid over the other two teams (if only one of them could be invited)?

If SC doesn’t make it then the above would have to be true as well.

It appears Ohio St/Michigan wasn’t the only brawl today. Bama/Auburn had an after the game altercation and NC State pulled a Michigan trying to plant the flag on the 50 which caused a brawl between UNC.

Arizona State did it with a pitchfork too. Lol.

I’m okay with the conference champ auto bid, but not auto byes for them.
