Probably Never will bu i see something like one of the following:
Plan A. Plan B
7A 24. 7A 24
6A 24. 6A 24
5A 32 5A 24
4A 32. 4A 32
3A 40. 3A 40
2A 40. 2A 40
1A 45. 1A 53
Really 6 team regions minimum is what we need. 45 leaves 33 football schools and 53 leaves 41 football schools currently. We never see 48 schools in a class again except 1A.

Looking at the EHS schedule... where are the six wins coming?
A. 29 at Stringer (likely win)
S. 5 at SE Lauderdale (likely win)
S. 12 Union ( toss-up)
S. 19 North Forrest (likely win)
S. 26 South Jones (loss)
O. 3 Heidelberg (loss)
O. 10 at Bay Springs (loss)
O. 17 at Taylorsville (toss-up)
O. 24 Clarkdale (toss-up)
O. 30 at Mize (likely loss)
IMO it'll take a good bit of luck and great coaching for six wins. We'll see.
South Jones or Heidelberg for Homecoming?

I ask the question; What happens after we drop to below 32 football schools in 1A? I would like to read your opinions. We currently sit at 36 football and 12 non-football.

Okay, so that has nothing to do with the Sumrall/Purvis getting new high schools discussion.
I was confused by your statement, “As my dad use to say, close the local school the town dies. Likely Purvis will stay 5A now that Magee and Mendenhall are remaining open...” because Purvis is not closing & there has not been any talk about it at all. It’s actually growing. But it appears your comment has nothing to do with my post to which you initially replied.
Current Leflore County Numbers will make it 6A. It's not likely that 7A will remain at 25 schools in 2 years. With that being said:
Meridian drops to 6A
Leflore County goes to 6A
Greenville drops to 5A
Long Beach drops to 5A
Lanier drops to 4A
NE Jones drops to 4A
South Pike drops to 3A
North Tippah goes to 3A
Union drops to 2A

A little confused here - what school is closing?
Greenwood, Amanda Elzy, and Leflore County are consolidating to a new school. North Tippah both Faulkner and Walnut are consolidating with Elementary in one town, Jr High in one town, and high school in another town. Simpson County is no longer consolidating. We will be losing 3 high schools i think by 2027 or 28.

The chances of 2 schools being tied again to give 7A 25 is pretty slim. I'd bet going forward if they are on the bubble they make sure they stay on one side or the other.
The rule has always been that both move up. This is the 2nd time in 40 years that I can recall. Maybe 3rd.

Sumrall is already getting a new high school. Funding has been secured and approved. Building plans should be out for bid within the next 6 mths or so.
Purvis is getting a new high school too. Same exact size and blueprint as Sumrall. It’s all part of that district’s bond issue that passed last year. Those schools will stay 5A.
As my dad use to say, close the local school the town dies. Likely Purvis will stay 5A now that Magee and Mendenhall are remaining open. If ever it will be likely the school above Purvis that will drop with NEJones.

Simpson county consolidation is no longer happening. Not now or near future at least.
Congrats to the county. Now just build new high schools in each town.

SO PURVIS MAY BE DROPPING BACK DOWN TO 4a IN 2 YEARS?
Give or take as to when new Leflore County school (6A) opens(Greenwood, Amanda Elzy, Leflore County), Simpson County (5A) opens(Mendenhall and Magee), and North Tippah (3A), (Faulkner and Walnut) consolidating to 1 high school in one of 3 towns. We will lose 4 schools in the process.
Leflore County will be 6A forcing Long Beach to drop to 5A forcing Sumrall to drop. Some say Sumrall will continue to grow forcing NE Jones to drop. Simpson County will be 5A forcing a possibility of Purvis dropping. This is all based on October 2024 numbers. For it to happen in the fall of 2027 then all 3 districts will have to report consolidated numbers in fall of 2026. Past practice at MHSAA has been that they are consolidated in the fall of 2026 or fall of 2028 they will play 1 year as an independent with an independent schedule. Nothing becomes official until they patitition MHSAA as to the date they will become a consolidated school. At that time a determination will be made.

Sumrall will not be moving down. That town is growing every year. They may need a new high school within 5yrs.
Purvis will take Sumrall slot.

I think Lumberton and Taylorsville are usually mirror images talent-wise. Resurrection is well-coached but has struggled with numbers recently. Stringer is also well-coached, but until they show a product the jury is still out on them... some of the teams they've scheduled makes me wonder whether they're really up to snuff yet - Park Place, Salem, Wayne Academy, & Mount Olive.
If you have a team that is "all that ", those wouldn't be considered competition.
Looking for easy wins. Not good

I don't think folks believe Taylorsville is going to struggle all that much - especially considering how utterly watered-down 1A is currently.
They will struggle in non region games. Resurrection, Stringer, and Lumberton will give them trouble in Region play. Taylorsville is not the old Taylorsville. They certainly do have talent but they are young in some areas. It will take a few years to get back to where they want to be.

Very good possibility. I went by current numbers as of last fall. Probably the school above NE Jones will drop.

We will probably have to lose 20 schools to consolidation for us to go back to 6 classes. So with using the current numbers here are some possibilities of schools that may change classes or regions:
7A
All 25 schools will remain with no changes.
6A
Leflore County Central will open and be placed in Region 2.
Warren Central or Callaway will go to Region 3.
George County will go to Region 4.
5A
Long Beach will drop to 5A Region 4.
Simpson County 49ers will open and move to Region 3.
4A
Forest and NE Jones will be in either Region 5 or 6. NE Jones will be dropping down to 4A.
Lawrence County will move to Region 6.
Sumrall will be dropping down and replace Lawrence County in Region 7.
Leake Central will move to Region 4 replacing Greenwood. Mendenhall no longer exists.
3A
North Tippah consolidates and moves to Region 1. Faulkner and Walnut combined.
Amanda Elzy becomes part of Leflore County Central.
Winona moves to Region 3.
St Andrew's moves to Region 4 or stays Region 5.
McLaurin moves to Region 5 or stays Region 6.
Crystal Springs likely goes to Region 6.
Hazlehurst moves to Region 6 or stays Region 7.
Amite County and Wesson move up and go to Region 7.
2A
East Union to Region 1.
West Tallahatchie to Region 2 after moving up.
Riverside to Region 3 after moving up.
J Z George moves over to Region 4.
Velma Jackson or Philadelphia drops down to Region 5.
Mize and Puckett move to Region 7 or Collins and East Marion moves to Region 7 leading to a reshuffle of Regions 6 and 8.
1A
3 schools are lost to consolidation leaving Regions 1, 4, and 6 with just 5 schools each.
Perhaps due to over crowding Harrison, DeSoto, Madison, or Rankin Counties will someday open new high schools.

I've seen some spring game film and so far Wesson, to me, looks mighty good. I haven't seen film on some others who should be contenders, but consider me impressed.
Heidelberg by 40 and Wesson may score 12. Loyd Star and Wesson will be the top 2 in R7. Winner will probably meet Heidelberg at South St. I will say they may lose to Mize, Enterprise, or Bay Springs in Round 3.

I for one dont mind the open date between non region and region games.
The open dates are scattered per team. Not all teams have open date anymore.
-
7 classifications and 5 team regions created some of this mess. There should be no open date or oos/mais games until open dates are eliminated. 6 to 9 team regions should be normal.

Taylorsville ain't coming back no matter no way all them people ain't coming back even youth sport got bad and kids left it to. It like somebody left the gate open and them horses done left the barn and gone. Taylorsville High School ain't coming back and business in town dying to cause everybody gone the county lost a bunch of people
Then you have to ask how much longer can you pay x number of teachers/administration and keep the doors open. Seems like to me some sort of consolidation within 10 to 15 years down the road. It doesn't seem right to have to travel from Sumnerland or New Home to Raleigh or Mize to go to school.
-
Hillman brought in a black female to be principal from Covington County. The female principal there now i can't say where she is from or her skin color. All i know is what ever is going wrong needs to be corrected starting with increasing numbers and getting back to 2A. Never leave it hands of the school board.
-
Taylorsville has to rebuild its town. Too many vacant homes. The people have got to move back home after college or where ever they are moving too. If that doesn't happen then in the next 5 to 10 years there will be some form of consolidation. My guess is a new high school for Mize and Taylorsville located somewhere between the towns along hwy 28.

I heard that the sheriff's not running again , because of the heat he's been getting because of the way he's handled things and his wife is fed up with the talk...I have no idea if it's true but have heard that from different people! And you're right about the administration in tville, the superintendent needs to get off his tail and do what his job requires, we got rid of one who was causing problems and now the new one hasn't been a big change that we all hoped he would be!
The sheriff has 3 murders on his hand has failed to investigate each one. He has ruled all 3 accidental. End of case. He needs to go.
As for the low scores there is a problem. Obviously if the students aren't doing what they need to do preparation, focus, and apply themselves then no teacher or principal can expect higher scores. If its the teacher or principal then they need to go.
