I’m sure every single 7A school trying to do so. Tupelo, Starkville, Oxford, Madison central, Clinton, Brandon, petal, oak grove, Gulfport, ocean springs are all big time recruiting from the text groups I have seen. Some schools hide it well, some are blatant and basically dare MHSAA to try to stop it. It will take state legislature passing laws to stop or allow it. MHSAA only cares if it affects their money or if the right person complains. There will eventually be some lawsuits popping up over it. You can about bet on it.

Now they Asst Supt of this, for that, and for other. Like 7 or 8 Asst Superintendents in Rankin County.

And it looks like Lemonis may be a serious candidate to get that Coastal job. Would be an interesting situation for him there. I am not sure I’d go that route if I were Coastal’s AD.
-
There is an arms race in 7a. Tupelo isn't the only one getting "random" and "surprising" move ins.
-
aw yea they full force doing this.
-
Yes and no. A player could be a one man show at a 1a school and look like a man amongst boys. But if he goes somewhere and plays against the 6a/7a schools he can get a gauge on how good he really is. If a player at a 1a schools averaged say 250yds a game rushing and left to play at a 6a/7a school and only averaged 60yds a game rushing then you have to really ask yourself is he really that good of a player.

Kevin Schnall of Coastal Carolina headed to South Carolina. Big time hire for SC, they should be competitive again soon.

Yeah there are way more than 27 or 36 schools with under 1,000 students in PreK to Grade 12. I think that 27 number could be the districts with less than 1000 students. I still maintain I will be surprised if there are more than a handful of districts that are consolidated. A House Committee can say and think all they want but getting the House, Senate, and governor to approve bills that target individual schools in tiny communities seems beyond their concerns. We call agree with this but the law states currently the MDE Superintendent must make 90% of what the IHL commissioner makes. There is a bill filed each year to overturn this law but it never makes it out of committee. This has been the law for many years so it's not usually tied to the person sitting in the chair at MDE. This times 1,000. There is a statewide teacher pay scale based on years of experience and degrees earned. There is no such scale for superintendents. Some of them are grossly overpaid for the total number of students served as well as district complexity. This should be reined in even if districts don't ultimately consolidated.

After turning in TCPS a couple of years back is Tupelo now recruiting? Nettleton's QB two years and a couple more and now supposedly a couple of Saltillo's best guys and an All state DB from Baldwin that led the state in Int last year. Will MHSAA investigate.

That’s nonsense. That’s the excuse these bigger schools use to recruit… “these kids just want exposure”. It’s not 1998 anymore. If a player is good, they will get exposure even if they play 1A ball. The internet has made the whole “exposure” talking point a myth.

I can honestly say I counted 36 schools right at or below 1,000 students. I got to the end of middle of the alphabet let's say M. I skipped down and got Smith Counties numbers PK to 12 th grades. I think many of those districts that the committee is looking at have to be under performing or multiple underperformed per county such as East and West Jasper. 2 Districts with all 3 schools under 1,000 students. Bay Springs 791, Heidelberg 713, Stringer 592. All 4 of Lincoln County schools are under 1,000 but are good performing schools ranging from 727 down to 630. Wesson has 810 but would you force CopiahvCounty Schools to consolidate with Hazlehurst City Schools. I really do think they are going after some of the Delta Counties amounting to about 25 to 30%. Then a few in the NE. Smith County may be on the list since Raleigh has 1128, Mize 808, and Taylorsville 514. We will wait and see how the bill is written. At some point you need to downsize state government as well.

Georgia and Texas getting to Omaha, not unexpected at all. Bama was a team that everyone thought wasn’t as good as their seed, and I still think they benefited from a fairly easy path to Omaha, but hey you don’t get this far without being good. Can’t dismiss them anymore. Ole Miss was a trendy pick to make a deep run because of their pitching staff and home run potential, can’t say I’m too surprised they are in Omaha. Oklahoma is by far the biggest surprise of the SEC 5. Don’t think anyone had them getting out of Georgia Tech’s regional, much less getting to Omaha. My gut tells me that whoever wins the Georgia/Texas game on Saturday night is likely going to win the whole thing… And I’m starting to lean Texas in that game. I’m souring a little on Georgia after seeing their pitching against State this weekend. It was frankly pretty bad other than the Byrd guy that closed both games, and this was after UGA pitched State really well in the previous four meetings. I am not sure they can keep coming back on teams and bank on winning a bunch of shootouts at this stage. This may look really dumb in about a week but I’m going to go outside the box and say West Virginia wins the other side of the bracket. Little bit of a vibe thing with the Mountaineers, and I also think they are a more well rounded team than people realize. I have Texas over WVU in the finals. I like OM’s pitching a lot but I worry about their tendency to be home run reliant at times in that park. Not really sure what to make of UNC, their record is great but they are kinda notorious Omaha chokers.

Most of these kids come to Hattiesburg cause to get exposure, increase their college recruitment, join a better program, wants playing time, wants to play a new position, better coaches and facilities. For instances when QB Duece graduated we had 4 Qbs came over to compete for that position. Gavin from OG/PCS won that position if he had stayed at PCS or OG he will be still riding that bench. D Young came over from NF cause of he wanted to be a WR instead a RB so he came over as WR/ATH. I believe he didn't have any offers before coming to HHS. Lets talk about the players we lost this year due to want to play a different position, not getting enough playing time, mad with the coaches, WE lost (3) a RB, center, and LB 2 were starters transferred. I done seen transfers last 2 years come and go back home before season starts it doesn't mean anything to me. Some transfers still on the bench from last year lol. We thought we had Qb Kaison Koenenn from Hancock last year but it fell thru last minute. As on now we have 4 transfers or more definitely not 2.

North Forrest players been coming over to HHS for years now yall late. Kids need exposure to get offers coaches and admin not doing a enough.

I am going to say there are more than 34 schools at are around 1,000 students. Mt Olive people will fight it all the way until building crumbles. You can’t blame them. I wonder if the legislature is doing this to scare a few more school districts to consolidate.
-
Well, it official now. 5 SEC teams after Alabama and Oklahoma advanced today. May as well refer to it as the "Hoover Invitational". At least 1 SEC team in the championship, since a whole side of the bracket is all SEC. I think Ole Miss has a good chance too, from the other side. Georgia / Texas vs Ole Miss?

and that state super is grossly overpaid

Agee has not tried to recruit any kid from Mize Gray or Agee. He has no knowledge of anyone trying to convince anyone to come to Taylorsville. He was asked by someone in the community if the guy transferred back to Taylorsville could he play and he said yes. People was trying to get him to report the kids that live in the district that goes to others schools but wouldn’t do it. He speaks highly of Coach Maddock and always says how he helps him with the AD stuff. As for the guy he knows him because he works with Agee wife. He has never asked him to recruit any player.
-
If they really want to save money, put a cap on the ridiculous amount of money that superintendents make.
-
Mmmm… I wouldn’t count youth football as recruiting. A lot of times the parents themselves take a liking to who coaches their kids the best and/or develop the best rapport over the years. Once they’re in high school and rules start being broken, that’s a different story.
-
Hattiesburg going after any kid that has any family in Hattiesburg they could live with or use address of. Statewide at that. Other coaches starting to complain. They better stay out of the jackson area 7A schools. Trying to pull to many from there they will get mhsaa on ya.
-
Possibly. They made a lot of really bad hires in administration for a few years and that’s set them way back. You can’t lose your school. Once the school goes, the town eventually goes too. And it’s almost impossible to ever restore it
-
And? If it’s not such a big deal your school wouldn’t be using it as a recruiting tool
-
Taylorsvilles downfall may have been somewhat orchestrated from within its own district.

Laurel been using their youth league the same way to get kids from jones, Wayne and jasper counties. Laurels most recent big 3 o linemen that went to the sec all should have been at west jones. One of their wr’s should have been northeast jones. Couple d linemen from Wayne county. Actually laurels d line/strength coach was their big “recruiter” and he just left them for Wayne county. Corey Reynolds now on Laurel staff as o line coach. Also rumors they hired jack hankins. Kids are trying to bail on Laurel now. As I said earlier, most of the kids are invtext and chat groups with each other. I have seen screen shots of the conversations. They do talk to each other and try to te riot each other. As soon as one finds out they have relatives in the other district whims address they can use its game on. Laurel kids know the stuff that happened behind the scenes at WJ at they are trying to get out of they can. Kids trying to get out of northeast jones as well. I know at least 2 Hattiesburg was after from o saw in the screenshots. A few other specific cases I know of as well. The kids recruit each other more than coaches do
