I like the idea, with what someone drew up, Vancleave would be battling Pass for the 5-6 spot every year.  I wish the MHSAA would also go back to only taking the top 2 teams in each division to the playoff, tired of seeing 1-9 or 2-8 teams in the playoffs

Hell no. Respectfully.

Many schools use that classic game to play rivals who they normally can’t schedule which turns to be big moneymaker games for some.. With such poor budgets for schools I think that would hurt a lot

But if you only have 5 region games then you can easily fit in a rival game amongst your  other 5 OOC games. With the weather being less hot the gate could be even higher with those games being scheduled in September as opposed to August. Not to mention much fairer to the players on the field.

So that should not be an issue either. I just think it is ridiculous to play games in the middle of August. Plus they can start practices a bit later than the end of July.

Exactly. I'd think this would be an opportunity to boost ticket sales with non region games. More weeks with more options instead of the required games that were on the schedule. And less of an excuse NOT to schedule tougher opponents. I'd like to see some Oxford vs Ocean Springs or Starkville vs Oak Grove kinda matchups in those early weeks.

Any early numbers as to where the schools who are currently high 3A and low 4A would be placed?

South Pike, Columbia, Moss Point, & Quitman we’re 4 smallest 4As.

Amory, Yazoo County, Morton, & St Stan were 4 largest 3A.

You’re confusing me on the OLA deal. That is St. Stanislaus. It’s just the girls part of the school. So wherever St Stan is is where OLA would be.

That would leave 3A with 39 football schools and 2A at 38 football schools under the 7 classification plan.

Each class 4-2A will have 40 teams that play football in them. The schools that don’t play football will be added into the regions for the other respective sports is how I was told it will work out.

3A 41 schools

2A 42 schools

1A 48 schools

Makes all the sense

The schools don’t make a tremendous paycheck on the classic games. MHSAA gets a pretty good cut from that one. I’m not saying the schools don’t make anything, but it’s not as much as a lot of people think.
