I wish the MHSAA would also go back to only taking the top 2 teams in each division to the playoff, tired of seeing 1-9 or 2-8 teams in the playoffs Hell no. Respectfully. With such poor budgets for schools I think that would hurt a lot But if you only have 5 region games then you can easily fit in a rival game amongst your other 5 OOC games. With the weather being less hot the gate could be even higher with those games being scheduled in September as opposed to August. Not to mention much fairer to the players on the field. So that should not be an issue either. I just think it is ridiculous to play games in the middle of August. Plus they can start practices a bit later than the end of July.

I'd think this would be an opportunity to boost ticket sales with non region games. More weeks with more options instead of the required games that were on the schedule. And less of an excuse NOT to schedule tougher opponents. I'd like to see some Oxford vs Ocean Springs or Starkville vs Oak Grove kinda matchups in those early weeks. Rebel Bert
If 3A and 4A only has 39 and 38 football schools will 1A be dropped to 48 schools.

Proposed plan puts 40 in each class for football for 4-2A and 1A will have leftovers. Sports that don’t play football I assume will just be put into respective regions for those sports

Rebel Bert
It all corrects itself after Magee/Mendenhall consolidates and Yazoo County drops down to 3A in 2025.
slicklizard
There was a lot of pushback that it would water down the playoffs when we went to six classes and the state grew into it. The same will happen here. Bring it on.

Rebel Bert
OLA and St Stanislaus are listed as 2 separate schools in the classification numbers. That's why I said will Hatley move up or there be only 4 football schools in Region 8.
