JagsFan77
The soccer board several years back was one of the most active. Many of those posters' kids graduated I guess. Several coaches would come to discuss rules and tournaments as well.
NothingAsItSeems
Why doesn't MHSAA have a multiplier like every other state? There's literally no argument NOT to have one.

There's literally no argument NOT to have one. Very broad generalization. Only a few states have multipliers. In any case, I don't see the relevance to soccer. pancho
Probably in reference to the cruitin schools who are 1A-2A in enrollment but compete with schools in the 3A-4A range.

NothingAsItSeems
Most states do have a multiplier, and it applies to soccer because the only teams to win a MHSAA State Championship in Class 1 (1A-3A) are private schools, except for three boys teams in 2000, 2010, and 2015. No public school has ever won a girl soccer state championship.

No public school has ever won a girl soccer state championship. For example, a public school with a distinct district to draw from for players competes against a school with no distinct boundary to pull from. Case in point, the coast private schools that are located among the most populous counties in the state. Jackson County has 145,00 with George having 25,000 then Harrison County has 210,000 with Stone adding 20,000 and even Hancock has 46,000 with Pearl River having 55,000 while Franklin County High School is located in county of 8,000 people AND then Southeast Lauderdale gets a quarter of Lauderdale County School district, like 7,000 people, to make up it enrollment. NothingAsItSeems
NOT this year. Privates will rule soccer once again: Class I Championship for boys is private school vs private school AND the Class 1 girls soccer championship is a private school vs a private school

The multiplier argument directly affects soccer. It affected baseball a few years ago, and the MHSAA forced out the private schools that were dominating those classifications. Most other states have multipliers because this issue has affected basketball and football. If this issue starts affecting your precious football, everyone will change your tune on this issue. But unfortunately because this affects a sport that you don't like, you don't care to the point of being rude to anyone that does

Georgia's is best Alabama does not, nor does Louisiana, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Texas, etc... Last time I did any research on it Arkansas and Georgia do, but that's it... maybe some midwestern state(s). St Al and Cathedral left MHSAA because they had out of state students and MHSAA ruled them ineligible - nothing to do with baseball. I don't know Madison SJ's reasoning for moving to MAIS. There are, I think, maybe six or so private schools in MHSAA - most of which do not actively recruit athletes. OLA, SSC, Resurrection, and Sacred Heart certainly do not. TCPS got caught with their hand in the cookie jar (football) so one would assume they might have learned a lesson. St Andrews - that juggernaut in all sports, right? If a school recruits athletes wouldn't they do so for all sports? Which team are you crying about beating your soccer squad this year? NothingAsItSeems
This is rare, but you're very misinformed. Too much to correct, but lets start with the first sentence's first state listed. (I am not going to post every single state's multiplier)... Alabama's multiplier: https://www.ahsaa.com/Portals/0/PDF's/AHSAA/AHSAA/Re-Classification/2022-2024/Competitive Balance/CBF Updated September 2021.pdf?ver=Rh7qt2ykO_wFbo_iS-JHIw%3D%3D×tamp=1639580086488
s1nglewing
Ah. I thought that when AHSAA added the competitive balance equation that they'd done away with the 1.35. So now they're penalizing successful private schools twice and unsuccessful schools only once. Which other states use a multplier?
NothingAsItSeems
This article sums up several southern state's multipliers https://www.ajc.com/sports/high-school-sports-blog/southern-states-have-variety-of-methods-for-dealing-with-public-private-schools/NXWPI2PATNHXZLXJUO6ELOJD74/
s1nglewing
So Alabama, Arkansas, and Georgia use multipliers. That's "most states"?
