it was 24 to 6 with 2 minutes left 2nd qtr. Gautier driving and WJ intercepts at their 3 yard line,

going to receive the 2nd kick and in total control, just  need to run the clock out.

They promptly snap it over the QBs head for a safety, kick off results in Gautier short field,

Gautier runs their normal 2 minute offense, scores and gets the 2pt conversion. 24-6 becomes 24-16.

You expect high school teams to make high school mistakes, but lately the WJ mistakes seem to come

at the worst possible time and inflict maximum damage. 

I will say though that the 4th qtr drive, down 28-24 at the time, was a gut check, and WJ answered the bell.

That was a head scratcher. They hadn't stopped him all night and you let a RB throw the pass on fourth down ? Did the coach call that play because West had just scored on a HB pass their self ?

That is a good football team. The coach has made some boneheaded calls throughout the season that hurt them

You should’ve saw the atrocious play calling against East Central. Inside the red zone 3 different possessions in the 4th quarter and came away with ZERO points. The passing on 4th and 1 when you got a quarterback who can lean forward and get ya 2 or 3. The lack of a running game hurts them too. Before Friday, the running back had a whopping 45 carries on the season.I get that they wanna be an “air raid” style offense, but you should’ve been able to go on a time chewing drive up 28-24 with 7 minutes and came away with a score to put it away.  I hear conflicting stories about play calling. Some people say the offensive coordinator has total control of the calls and some say High makes the final calls. Who knows. My little cousin plays defensive tackle so he has no idea about the offensive side of the ball. That last play was weird cause surely you don’t think they are gonna bite on that on fourth and long.

you cannot consistently trick your way to wins. coaches get too much into their own chess match and forget the team sometimes.
