I’m not sure if he was offended or not but I can believe he said no. It’s going to take a lot to move him. He’s got a very young team that was playing for a state title last season. He has a group of assistants who if they’re not his family they are good friends including his A.D.

Dub I get it with you and even people working away from home. But it has definitely had a negative effect on attendance. I know WC isn’t the team they once were and that has an effect. But attendance is down everywhere even at OG. Livestream has a lot to do with it but not the only reason.

He played football at Wayne County in the mid to late 2000’s under Marcus Boyles. I don’t know where he’s been coaching and this is assuming there’s only one Gabe Hood lol

Most people will stay home and livestream the games rather than attend. I believe that has played a big role in attendance falling off.

Would be a good spot for OS offensive coordinator and former USM player Tracy Lampley.

Kevin Gandy former longtime Assistant at WC also served as HC during 2020 the Covid year. He moved on to Meridian as OC when WC hired Coach Hankins . Is the new HC at NE Lauderdale. Kevin Gandy had a long tenure at WC under Coach Marcus Boyles and then Coach Todd Mangum winning multiple State Championships with both coaches.

This would be a good spot for a young Coordinator to get their opportunity as a HC. I’ve heard about the pay their for awhile

I was thinking when Boyles left Meridian that if Tony’s son wasn’t still in school he probably would’ve applied for the Meridian job

I have been reading this and keeping my opinion to myself. But you keep talking about reputation and facilities. Granted you guys have great facilities and with Coach Boyles who I have a ton of respect for HE has a reputation for winning. But please tell me in football exactly what has Petal won? I know Marcus took them to a championship game but come up short on a dumb rule but so be it. Nevil Barr had a few good seasons there but couldn’t get Petal over the hump. He goes to OG and turns that program completely around. Petal is a great school district no doubt but we’re talking football and championships. Hey I’m from Wayne County I know we’ve fallen off but when we talk reputation, facilities and Championships we are ahead of Petal. Kids are not worried about the facilities and reputation trust me we know. They want to win we did a lot more of that in without the fancy facilities.

I I believe I read where the linebacker Race I think was his name committed to Ole Miss. Maybe Merlin will llet us know for sure

He wasn’t forced out I believe it was an issue between him and administration. Also he lost his Father during his last season at WC again I’m not sure if that played into it. Now I do know a lot of people were caught off guard by it.

That’s a statement I agree with for sure. Our defensive line use to control games. That hasn’t happened since 2015.

Ok I’m not going to predict anything here but for everyone who thinks the talent pool is dry at WC keep thinking that. Yes their big play receiver went to Wayne Academy that’s a done deal. To me the best receiver and hardest cover is the sophomore TE I don’t know his exact height and weight I would say 6’3- 6’4 and about 250-260 with great hands. He honestly reminds me of the Cooley kid from Laurel a few years ago that went on to Ole Miss. everyone has complained about offense but WC could score the problem was we couldn’t stop the other teams from scoring. I’ve been around WC football from the beginning and I don’t remember a team giving up the points that we did last season. A very talented group of freshman and JV players will be playing next year. So yeah last season was a huge disappointment but I believe the talent is there.

Great hire he comes from a football family as well.

For the record I’m a fan of both I would love to see both schools be successful. With Coach Breland being an old WC assistant and having two other WC assistants on staff they could be building a winning program.

Never did I say they were recruiting JPS kids get your story straight. I asked if because of consolation of JPS schools did that have any affect on the kids moving to Florence. I know nothing about Florence recruiting anyone or have I ever accused them of it.

You’re full of crap even you can’t be dumb enough to believe that. Private schools are not the only ones who recruit either public schools also do what they can to get an advantage.

Name any coach that hasn’t recruited in MAIS period. I’ll wait and be truthful

No shame in Williams beating you he’s a helluva player. But in general I hate these high school all star games. Sure it’s great for the kids to be recognized. But you have limited time together to practice and scheme. God forbid a serious injury just recognize them and move on to the next level.

I believe they were meaning people moving out there from JPS or they could have been mistaken.
